Hargreaves Services (HSP) crosses the radar today on the back of a trading update ahead of full-year results which are set to be released in August. This fuels and logistics group has seen a tremendous collapse in its share price over the past several years, but it looks as if it may have now reached “value” territory.

A “Trading Update” from shipping services company Clarkson (CKN) includes notice early of “deterioration in freight rates” reflecting an “increase in global economic uncertainty and the continuing imbalance between supply and demand in shipping and offshore”. Uh oh…

No doubt Paul Scott is wetting himself as TrakM8 (TRAK) boasts of how pre-tax profits of £3 million leads to cash of £4.45 million being generated in calendar 2015. There is so much cash generated that his Dorset bunnies are paying a 2p per share dividend, even though the company has now moved into net debt. The squeals of Scotty delight in Brighton are almost audible here in Bristol. Except that it is all smoke and mirrors. TrakM8's business remains a piss poor non generator of cash.

Earlier last week there was cracking news on the Batangas gold mine which - on its own justifies a multiple of the current share price. But now we have confirmation that Bluebird's (BMV) copper concentrate trading operation has banked its first cheque. More will flow and quickly.

The real drive for Brexit had little to do with economics, but a great deal to do with immigration and against this backdrop the EU’s economy has been crawling along in the slow lane since 2008.  Since then The EU has been unable to create a plan that would fix dire unemployment in southern Europe, where in some parts youth unemployment is over 50%, and revive a stagnant economy. The EU’s founding treaty promised prosperity and this is what was sold to the citizens of Europe and so its leaders have failed quite spectacularly on this front.
