Simec Atlantis Resources – When’s the placing?

Published 31 October 2019, 14:29

I commented on Simec Atlantis Resources (SAE) in August in some detail and I called it a sell based on the technical and commercial situation. I further commented on what I considered an immoral retail bond offering. Today we get three RNS‘s covering developments in various parts of the business which will add to cash consumption. So when’s the placing?

Closing 5PM Sunday: This weekend's Primary Bid offer is Ascent Resources at 0.3p - you know I am almost tempted

Published 20 January 2019, 04:09

Ok Ascent (AST) has been screwed by the Slovenia government but it may yet extract value there and it is now ,looking at other "identified" opportunities. backed by Henderson it will survive and I do not blame the management for what happened but the Slovenes so I sort of rate Colin Hutchinson and his team. After all, an Ulster man can do no wrong in my eyes. So this is just a sub penny share punt and I am almost temptedto take up the offer via Primary Bid as a small flutter. Here's why...

Naibu - the smoking guns that show it was an AIM fraud from day 1

Published 25 May 2015, 07:31

Naibu (NBU) joined the AIM Casino on April 5 2012 and from that day to the bitter end it always insisted that it had zero debt and cash of c£40 million. That was, as I shall demonstrate below, one monstrous lie. And this now brngs to the fore the whole issue of all the other China frauds on AIM claiming to be drowning in cash and debt free and the pathetic regulation of this whole shambles.

What is the real value of the Eqtec deal?

Published 18 January 2019, 01:27

There was much glee amongst certain individuals on Tuesday morning when an RNS dropped from Eqtec (EQT) announcing a contract, and some were very quick to point out that my opinion on the company had been incorrect. That followed my articles here saying that I wouldn’t touch the company, and although the news caused the share price to spike, my opinion on the company is completely unchanged – in fact the news actually reinforced my view!...

Itaconix – “unable to reach satisfactory commercial terms with one of its major existing merchandizing customers”. Uh oh!…

Published 2 April 2024, 13:39

Describing itself as “a leading innovator in sustainable plant-based polymers used to decarbonize everyday consumer products”, Itaconix (ITX) has issued a “Trading Statement” announcement commencing that “following extensive negotiation, it has been unable to reach satisfactory commercial terms with one of its major existing merchandizing customers in North America for supply in 2024”, though emphasising that “enhancing our revenue structure and increasing gross profit margins, while impacting our near-term revenue streams, pave the way for our next stage of growth”. So what about this currently seeing the shares more than 25% lower to below 200p?

President Energy; quietly, yet publicly, confident of a big oil find?

Published 7 July 2014, 12:55

I last covered President Energy (PPC) about seven weeks ago and suggested this could be one to follow the chairman, Peter Levine, in buying at 30.75p (the then mid-price). Since writing, President’s stock has risen to 37p, but not in a straight trajectory

Sage Group continues to perform, whilst British Land continues not to

Published 16 November 2022, 14:04

I am pleased to see Sage Group (SGE) shares back up to a circa 800p share price after the publication of its full-year numbers earlier today. Six months ago, I noted that I was “once again…in love with Sage Group shares”. Even though I am not a personal user of its small business capabilities, it is still super relevant from a cloud and ongoing new R&D perspective. But, whilst the share was cheap in May, it looks closer to being a fairer value today. In short, time to take some nice profits at Sage Group. So, if one of Newcastle’s FTSE 100 finest is doing well, what about the more London-focused British Land (BLND)?

Ross Norman: GOLD FIX - Lazy Journalists Just Don't Get It ...

Published 10 July 2014, 15:06

Surely never before have so many lines been written by journalists on a subject that they palpably know so little about and have made little attempt to understand... as the London gold fix.

The Brilliant John Hempton on Alibaba numbers that do not add up

Published 7 January 2016, 03:03

John Hempton of Bronte capital in Oz, was a star of the recent Gold & Bears show and is right now King of the Bears - you can see his performance HERE. I started looking at Alibaba (US:BABA) as a cracking short yesterday HERE but now bring you a Hempton article from a couple of months ago which is absolutely brilliant. Read this and then tell me if you believe a word that Alibaba claims. It is a slam dunk short. Over to the King of the Bears..

BREAKING: Block Energy – More Bombs Drop as Pressure Mounts on the Chairman

Published 3 August 2021, 11:24

Shares in AIM-listed Block Energy (BLOE) are up this morning by 7.5% on no news, although yesterday the company announced a series of nil-cost options being issued to its directors and employees in lieu of salary. In this mad market, nothing surprises me and the dilution is apparently a good thing as far as shareholders are concerned! Meanwhile, more bombs have been dropped by the rebels looking to oust current chairman Philip Dimmock in favour of the last independent NED still standing, Mr Charles Valceschini and commission an independent forensic report into the affairs of the company. Oh dear…..

Hostelworld – updates including its net cash… but what about its bills?

Published 15 October 2020, 12:56

Previously on hostel-focused online booking group Hostelworld (HSW), in August I wrote “pleased to announce” half-year results… it sure? – concluding at a current 62p share price, a still more than £70 million market cap, I currently avoid. The shares last closed at 54.1p, and today a “Trading update”…

ShareProphets Tip of the Week: Buy Symphony Environmental at an 11p offer

Published 20 July 2014, 09:38

AIM listed Symphony Environmental Technologies (SYM) has not covered itself in glory over the years in terms of revenue and earnings visibility. Its d2W and d2p compounds seem exciting but one year sales are up and a big breakthrough is promised the next year they fall and dreams turn to dust. But a trading statement last week was great and the shares are our share tip of the week at 11p. Here’s why.

EXPOSE: Hydrogen Utopia – More red flags than in Jeremy Corbyn's wettest of dreams

Published 19 January 2022, 13:29

Where do I start on a crock-o-shite? Do I start with the valuation? Do I start with connected parties? Do I start with the technology? Do I start with the Aquis (lobster pot) market? There are so many options I find myself spoilt for choice. Hydrogen Utopia (HUI) really has to be a standout investment case of red flag options.

Neil Woodford Dog Xeros – washing machine malfunction as the spin cycle starts ahead of the rinse

Published 7 September 2019, 09:17

Neil Woodford’s favourite revolutionary (geddit?) washing machine outfit, AIM-listed Xeros announced some apparently good news this morning. I say apparently – it is a licensing deal for its washing machine technology but came with absolutely no financials whatsoever. What is the point of that? I thought RNSs were supposed to inform. But in this case I suggest it is not so much to inform as to ramp the shares up as the company tries to get a bailout funding away. I suspect the more important announcement was the one that came later in the morning, at 11.06 am, announcing that interims to June will be released on 19 September – a week next Thursday. I’ll mark that one in the diary…….

Roland "Fatty" Cornish's Christmas Carol Part 2 - the ghost of Christmas Present

Published 24 December 2016, 08:48

Oh, perhaps I shall have another small slice of stilton and another glass of port said London's worst Nomad Roland "fatty" Cornish to himself, as he tried to bury the memories of his visit from the ghostly apparition who was even scruffier than Tom Winnifrith. Clearly not a scholar or a gentlemen he repeated to himself several times although whether this was a reference to the ghost or Winnifrith was unclear at this point. Fatty did not enjoy being haunted but, after just one more "small" slice of Stilton and a small port Fatty decided it was time for beddybyes and headed up stairs with his faithful, if flatulent, poodle Stuttard following on behind.

Corero Network Security – “Significant Contract Wins”. Hmmm, what about the cash crunch ahoy?

Published 3 January 2018, 03:58

Corero Network Security (CNS) “is pleased to announce” combined customer orders “worth in excess of $400,000 for SmartWall products and related one-year support services”. What’s the detail and import of this?...

Last day of June! What are house prices, Ocado and Moonpig up to?

Published 30 June 2022, 11:44

It is the last day of June, the last day of the quarter and the last day of the first half of the year. How exciting! There is so much more to come for all active investors. As for the ‘buy a bit of everything / anything’ passive investor types…good luck, unless you really want to ignore the world of investments for a decade or two. And so much to think about, as always on a Thursday. First, I was amused to see that the latest Nationwide House Price Index for June pleased many people by still showing a year-on-year increase of 10.7% (only just below the 10.8% anticipated number).

Gfinity – not quite as exciting as Call of Duty I’m afraid

Published 17 March 2016, 01:40

With the interims of the leading e-sports business, Gfinity (GFIN), due by the end of the month, I thought I would put my investment analysis to the test and try my hand at an interims preview rather than the more traditional review which can often skewed by hindsight.

Updated: Apple users – Apple is screwing up your Bearcast feed

Published 19 August 2023, 15:30

We think that we have the Bearcast on Apple Podcasts problem worked out. It seemed to have an issue with the HTTPS that we use. If you don't have the most recent Bearcast – today’s –  then click the ‘Refresh Feeds’ option on your podcast player.

If you are an Android user or you use any other podcast player except Apple’s, you can ignore this as you were probably not having any issues.
