Bluebird Merchant Ventures – Kochang permit received… now onto gold production
Shortly before Christmas an early present: Bluebird Merchant Ventures (BMV) “is pleased to announce that it has now officially received a 'Permit to Develop' the Kochang mine”… This must surely kickstart a big re-rate.

Looking back over my 2019 New Year tips
Last year it was a case of sack-cloth and ashes as my tips had been Minoan (MIN) and less of a disastrous foray with Bowleven (BLVN). Both are worth holding onto at the moment, in my view, but as tips for 2018 they were pretty horrible. Fortunately my 2019 picks did much better, as I plumped with Ariana (AAU) on the long side and Interserve (IRV) as a short.

Breaking: Optibiotiox First Retail deal its Holland & Barrett ( 735 UK stores)
The screenshot below looks to be self explanatory. 715 UK stores. Ching. Ching. As I noted in bearcasts for most of the pre-Christmas week, Optibiotox (OPTI) shares are a strong buy. Might the company possibly RNS this?

Think Hard Before You Keep Your High Street Shares - Before the Christmas Sales Numbers Come Out.
Hello Share Thrashers. Though I can’t guarantee this advice is sound, relying on history, I would suggest this is a good time to sell any shares you might have in high street stores. And here are my reasons.

Avoid macro calls in 2020, who might go the way of Thomas Cook?
This month has been the opposite of December 2018 which saw a steep decline on Christmas Eve which marked a year low on Wall St. Now we are seeing new all-time highs posted practically every day. Even the derided stock markets of Europe and the UK - as represented by the FTSE 250 - are at or near all-time highs…

2019 Christmas Eve "Bury Bad News" Sweepstake result
Having been visited by the Ghost from Christmas Past I got a bit confused and befuddled over the deadline for this year’s ShareProphets Bury Bad News Christmas Sweepstake. Since then, of course, I’ve seen a few more ghosts, including the one for Christmas Present and the bury bad news sweepstake certainly threw up a good few of those (for non-shareholders). So who won?

A final £15 million Christmas kick in the bollocks from Neil Woodford to unit holders
Merry Christmas Neil Woodford. Having made c£100 million from Woodford Investment Management you are planning a new Chinese venture as those Brits who backed you lick their wounds and count their losses. You are a crook, a spiv and should be in jail and facing a lifetime ban from financial services. If folks were not angry enough already, at 11.41 AM on Christmas Eve came another £15 million kick in the gonads. Cheers Neil, seasons greetings to you, your wife and your array of show jumping ponies.

Centamin – deadlock broken (for now) with Endeavour. Now will the potential offer be upped?
Better news emerged yesterday from Egyptian gold play, fully listed Centamin (CEY) with regard to its previously stalemated position with potential all-paper Canadian suitor Endeavour Mining. It seems that Endeavour has now furnished Centamin with the due diligence paperwork requested and in return Centamin has requested and got an extension to the PUSU (put up or shut up) deadline at the end of this month to give Endeavour until January 14 to decide whether to make an offer.
