Hello Share Tasters. In the past I’ve commended Britvic (BVIC) to your further study, though I don’t hold the shares myself. If I did, I might be tempted to sell. This is not because the shares are doing badly. They are not. Indeed, since January they are up by a fifth.

It’s been three months since I covered Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Corporation (CCH), the Greek-International bottling company with a monopoly on selling Coke in Eastern Europe, the Eastern Med, Russia and Nigeria.

Heading back into the drinks business, this morning saw interim results from Central and Eastern European spirits producer Stock Spirits (STCK). This can be interpreted as another recent “busted IPO”, with the share price halving since its 2013 flotation.

My esteemed colleague Graham Neary, a bloke whose analytical powers are tremendous, opined the other day that drinks firms make investors lots of money. Most of them, anyway. He was writing about Fevertree (FEVR), a company which puts a superior kind of tonic water into gin and tonics. I’ve also commended this lot on this delicious website before now. Since then the shares have risen about 40%.

Uncle Tom disagrees with me, but I never underestimate the power of the UK public and foreigners,f or that matter, to imbibe alcohol. My evidence is that every other customer at my local supermarket check-out has a basket full of cans and bottles and often little else.

Distil (DIS) was one of my tips for 2016 on ShareProphets, and the share price has performed very well so far this year, up 20% or so. The shares are now 1.15p mid. They will go far higher.
