Echo Energy – Bizarre funding arrangement, share price must drop, mustn’t it?

Published 9 days ago

I’ve been scratching my head over the funding plans announced by the newly re-named Echo Energy (ECHO) earlier this week as there is an unusual aspect to it and can’t believe that the share price won’t drop in the short term as a result. Let me explain.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - How the Shipmans are buttering up my Dad plus punishing the wrong folks at Tesco

Published 33 days ago

My father is being charmed and buttered up by the quacks at Warwick Hospital and I am off there shortly for a pre operation chat. Ahead of that I look at Tesco (TSCO) and its fines today - we really have got white collar crime all wrong in this country. Then I look at Genel (GENL), Tasty (TAST) which is really not very tasty at all, Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO) which is is utterly inedible and Sound Energy (SOU) where the issue is valuation. Surely the good news is in the price already?

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Sound Energy now firmly on the bears radar screens

Published 50 days ago

I refer to young Steve's article earlier on the most shorted AIM shares. The fact is that most AIM shares cannot be shorted at all. There then follows a discussion on Sound Energy (SOU), Boohoo.com (BOO) and Telit (TCM). On a serarate note I look at LGO Energy (LGO). When the facts change what do you do?

Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: Independent Resources Group up 569% - complete and utter insanity: do the math!

Published 55 days ago

Shares in Independent Resources (IRG) are up 569% today. I know James Parsons of Sound Energy (SOU) has joined but this is insanity, a rampfest by many of the usual suspects. Just do the maths! If you cannot I can do it for you in his bonus podcast.

ShareProphets Share Tips of the year 2017 Number 9 Gary Newman says Sell Sound Energy

Published 124 days ago

Sound Energy (SOU) has performed better than I expected in 2016 and the share price has held up at higher levels than I anticipated, yet I still think the current market valuation is totally crazy at this stage!

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Fund managers are not superhuman but dead cats can bounce

Published 157 days ago

In today's bearcast recorded with my father as the audience, here in Shipston, I start with the Autumn Statement which gets 0/10 from  me. Then it is onto Sound Energy (SOU) and the issue of fund manager due diligence. Then Optibiotix (OPTI), FastJet (FJET), Mkango (MKA), African Potash (AFPO), Countrywide (CWD) and the global real estate asset class - yes a Manhattan penthouse and a terraced home in a grim Northern welfare safari slum are related!. Finally a few words about Paternoster Resources (PRS) and as a related issue New World Oil & Gas (NEW).

Game Changer for AIM: Sound Energy - £24.1 million fund raise - you can take part via Primary Bid

Published 157 days ago

I will not be. As far as I can see the current market cap of £450 million is borderline insane and certainly not justified by the fundamentals. So I don't blame Sound Energy (SOU)  at all for raising cash at this level. If folks want to pay up, the company would be crackers not to let them. But some will disagree.

Sound Energy, another sell from the silly season

Published 258 days ago

While we are working our way through the silly season when all sorts of rubbish zooms ahead, I see that Sound Energy (SOU) is nudging an insane market cap of £300 million while I write. It could well soon take the place of the soon to be departed Gulf Keystone as the oil stock of choice for the retail loonies.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Sound Oil, FastJet to Cloudtag, gravity cant be defied forever

Published 264 days ago

I have met with an unprecedented barrage of hate and harassment from folks in Liverpool as I describe here. Moving on from that I ad my thoughts to those of Gary Newman on Sound Energy (SOU) and Graham Neary on FastJet (FJET) and chip in with a few ideas on Motif Bio (MTFB), African Potash (FRAUD), GLI Finance (GLIF) and Cloudtag (CTAG)

Sound Energy looks terrible value at this price

Published 280 days ago

Sound Energy (SOU) has been one of the best performing small oil companies this year in terms of its share price, but when you take a closer look it is hard to see how it justifies anywhere remotely close to its current valuation.

Sound Energy - The Truth is this (junk) Bond issue is a disaster: Sell!

Published 355 days ago

Sound Energy (SOU) has today boasted that it has signed heads of terms for Euro 28.8 million of new bonds with a coupon of just 5%. Sound fantastic. Except that if you dig into the detail you will see that, in fact, Sound could get away bonds only at junk pricing with a related party. That tells you that its shares are a stonking sell.

Schlumberger agreement cheer for Sound Energy

Published 486 days ago

Most oil and gas plays are licking their wounds from persistent energy price falls and continued gloom in many quarters about the present outlook. However, Mediterranean-focused Sound Energy (SOU), with gas interests in Italy and Morocco, is drawing comfort from a field agreement it has newly struck with Schlumberger, the multi-billion US oil and gas services giant, to develop the Tendrara onshore gas licence in north-east Morocco, where Sound is the operator.

Sound Oil; the saviour of Antrim Energy

Published 888 days ago

What a dramatic announcement from Sound Oil (SOU) this morning. Some might call the company’s unsolicited swoop for Antrim Energy (AEY) predatory. There’s no denying it has an aggressive feel to it, but only a fool would believe that this is a seller’s market for oil companies.

Sound Oil: valuation looks stretched

Published 1002 days ago

Tom and I have recently published a new e-book, “The 49 Golden Rules of Making Money from Oil, Gas and Mining Stocks”. Over the last few months, Sound Oil (SOU) has provided a perfect case in point for several of our Golden Rules. Back in the spring, when the shares traded hands between roughly 4.6p and 6.9p, this could have been a wonderful stock to buy, based on the company’s success at Nervesa. Thorough research and good timing would have definitely paid off. Today, however, at 12p (last seen) and a market cap of £49.84million, the risk/reward balance appears to have tilted more towards the risk side of the equation, despite the progress the company has made. And if you don’t believe me about this
