Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
In today's podcast I start with oil stocks and oil prices and discuss why I would not touch any of them with a bargepole - particular mentions of Tangiers Petroleum, Falklands Oil & gas, Rockhopper, Igas, Northern Petroleum and the rampers of Mosman Oil & Gas. I then move onto Quindell discussing whether my 0p target is too low.

1. Sector already out of favour, hence extreme sell off. Offers investors chance to buy tangible assets at large discount. As long as company can survive till oil recovers a no brainer
2 You generalise too much. There are crap companies but also plenty of good ones.
3. Agree re Rockhopper. The issue is PMO need to sanction development but for them commercial threshold raised by the c. $360m carry. FOGL will bounce ahead of drill campaign but Imo a trading play.

4. Takeovers will follow rising oil price. No great surprise there? Nevertheless Ophir buying Salamander. CAPEX cut backs will increase takeover activity as companies play catch up.
5. Goldmans are not projecting $75 oil this year! More like $50 (nearer $40 H1 2015) needed to stem US Shale growth. Goldmans accuracy re forecasting oil questionable tho!
6. Your blood on the walls signal is imo nonsense! Oversold small oils shares pretty much bottomed end of last year when oil was over $60. Oil has been down to $45 since then. Why bottomed last year? Because markets anticipate recovery. Every man and his dog realises that sub $50 is unsustainable and that low oil an economic stimulus.
Hence this is not like 2008 when the financial world could have ended. There is plenty of smart money looking for an entry point into the recovery phase. No panic crapping in pants as per 2008.
This is all about timing and that means anticipating and extrapolating changes in the supply/demand balance. I assume you haven’t read last Friday’s IAE report which offered the first glimmer….

Cracking oil cast Tom. Would like your view on MOIL as it is on of HSR buy/hold/should have got rid.
Best regards.
filthy lucre
Tom, just graciously accept that you are wrong on QPP. You make way too many
wayward assumptions that QPP will suffer the same teething troubles as Helphire and Accident Exchange.
QPP is primarily a law firm with great margins.
You may have beaten Tosca re: Cupid, but you are going to take a beating on this one.

Filthy Lucre
No, your wrong.
The share price may go enough to reduce your losses or even higher and eliminate them, I hope it does. However imo it will be unsustainable, Quindell will limp on as Sefton limps on, and will delist and revert back to a private no win no fee lawyer. Date April or August 2016.
These two guys are not here for you, the Banks put them in, to recover their monies, cash raised will go to them banks first Quindell working capital second and there will not be enough to give Quindell time to create something it never had, a viable profit model for the long term. If the Banks get their money these guys will get theirs, and be gone. They only planning to stay a year, how long the options, a year. No change there then.
Trade it, recover it, but never hold it. I notice the constant complaints from the BB’s about the share price being manipulated down,.none of you complained when it was manipulated up did you. Quindell share has never been worth £3 never mind £6.
However you try and spin you bought a fraud.

As I remember you were recommending NOP to go up to 350 not that long ago. Follow the Guru.

Charitably your memory is crap. Uncharitably you are just a complete tosser. My vote is on the latter.
WE have discussed my calls on NOP many times here but one more time for you, you retarded mother
I said buy at 13.5p. Sell half at 52.5p ( this was in 2001!). But again I was indeed a buyer 6 years ago at 144.5p.
I then “ceased coverage” when I left tips.
I tipped again at c45p. But admitted wrong at 33p. Said sell then apologised prefusely and have been advising that folks be short ever since.
That is the full record. Your view of “not that long ago” is an odd one.
Now why not piss off & and chat to your pals on the LSE asylum where you belong. Feel free to post again here when you can get your facts right.

If you get a couple of millionaires and someone to write a good story on its behalf then any company can recover even if built on sand until they pull the rug but only they have that power and that’s win, win for them. My mate made a load on quindell, not because he believed in the company but the fact a lot of people got it wrong saying it was a strong buy and if it did go under at that time some top people would have lost face in his words. I my self did not buy any of Quindell and I think my mate was lucky to make money. I think it was a good gamble but not one for widows and orphans. Good Luck to all Quindell Shareholder but when in dought stay out and that includes oil companies
