Some last minute changes to the schedule for UK Investor this Saturday the 18th include the annual Richard Poulden vs Tom Winnifrith debate which this year is in a 100 person room on the 3rd floor (the stands floor) not on the main stage. The Motion is “This house believes that if you own shares you should vote Labour in the General Election.”

Sorry if that sounds harsh but the gloves come off as far as I’m concerned when you offer a safe haven to terrorist scum sympathisers (that’s NOT a freedom of speech thing). To think I actually voted for them last time because one of their canvassers outside the polling booth used to smoke coal dust cigarettes or something…

I’m thinking of doing a ‘Vote UKIP’ article on my blog… and if I do I won’t be pulling any punches.
If Labour get in it will be a disaster for this country and shares. In particular, energy and banking stocks will be hammered.
The good thing is, MOST share investors are smart enough to know that anyway. I’m sure plenty will be voting Conservative, but with their continued acceptance of mass immigration and giving millions away in foreign aid to our rivals China and India, I can’t.

LibLabCon have tried to bribe voters by competing to redistribute more wealth than the other lot .
None of them have any idea about the sort of environment they need to create to stimulate business to create the proceeds they are in such a hurry to redistribute .
People like Cameron , Clegg and Milband who do not believe the UK is capable of governing itself should not even be standing for parliament .
Do those of you who are planning to vote LibLabCon understand that you are voting for the deprecation of Britain to be replaced by citizenship of a technocratic country called the EU ?
It’s UKIP for me . Time to kick the can kickers out .

Rather a technocracy than an unmeritocratic plutocracy though STRIEBS – surely (not that I’m planning to vote LibLabCon, incidentally – I’m not planning to vote at all)? The real enemy is excessive bureaucracy – a smokescreen to facilitate cronyism and obsequiousness over ability (which can take various forms – be it creative or otherwise).

I’ll own up Wildes – I forgot that the word for rule by the rich was plutocracy so I had to use a search engine to retrieve it. I’ve genuinely had enough of mainstream politics, though, and I now see that the honourable and upstanding Richard Desmond has just donated £1M to UKIP. He’s just trying to razzle-dazzle them on the off-chance they get in.
Anyway, Tom at least has been good to his word as my complimentary pizza voucher arrived today in return for my extremely meagre contribution to the Worthington fighting fund. I’ll hopefully be able to redeem it next time I’m down London way which is now looking to be the last Friday in June when the plan will be to catch The Who at Hyde Park.
We won’t get fooled again, eh (though I’m sure he sings “don’t” – ah, I see what they did there)?

Good post . You are right about bureaucracy facilitating cronyism .
Seems to me that global consultancy houses , the big accountancy firms , big law firms have integrated themselves so tightly in to Whitehall that they have become part of our govt . They control access to the people that count .
Add to this all the quango’s and it’s non-jobs and big pensions for the boys and girls who came from the right families and went to the right schools .
