I don't support the fruitcakes but am 100% Eurosceptic and say what you like about UKIP its latest video advert, below, is superb. Bring on the referendum!

I really only put this up to annoy the money tree wosrhipping druid, bet you 5 new drachmas that Malcolm Stacey loves the EU
Jason
Schultz’s comments after meeting Cameron last week ~ ‘Britain belongs to the EU’ ~ is exactly the sort of EU arrogance that the electorate will react negatively against. “Like f### it does” is more response :)
Striebs
Tom ,
If you want a Eurosceptic party then UKIP is it . It isn’t perfect but there is no reason to dismiss the party or it’s voters as fruitcakes – unless you want to bracket yourself alongside Emily Thornbury or David Cameron ?
Jason ,
I voted for UKIP and fervently believe in the nation state model and sovereignty ; particularly for Britain .
My problem is not with the EU any more than it is with a pig for being pig – it is what it is – and taking Martin Shulz’s comments out of context does not cut it for me .
My problem is with the British Establishment treasonously manouvreing Britain into this lobster pot .
Half the electorate still think the Conservative Party is “Eurosceptic” which is a weasel word for patriotic once every 5 years if ever there was one .
Cameron is using the referendum to spring a trap to silence the patriotic wing of his own party and an IN vote will be treated as a green light for acceleration of Britain’s adsorption into a United States of Europe .
TheMadAccountant
Jason:- Don’t know if I’d be too quick to condemn Schultz’s remarks when English clearly isn’t his first language. Maybe he meant ‘Britain belongs within the EU”…?
Jason
Striebs/Themadaccountant … points taken although the negativity coming from the pro-EU camp, the EU and other EU members about our ability to stand on our feet isn’t down to any misunderstanding or language issues . If the world’s 6th largest economy, 8th largest manufacturer, permanent security council member, one of the strongest diplomatic core in the world, the worlds largest financial centre can’t cut it alone who can? Outside the EU we would even have a voice at the WTO lol.
I voted UKIP, I’m a member of UKIP even though it’s not by any measure a polished, finished article. The whole debate for me is whether we want to preserve our democracy, the right to manage our own affairs and protect our territorial integrity or do we want to be run by unelected bureaucrats not in the British interest or even the average Europeans but for some pipedream that no-one’s ever voted for. Even if there was a short term economic cost I’d vote for the former.
The question, if there’s no treaty opt-out of ever closer union, should be “Do you want the UK to remain in the EU which is moving towards a United States of Europe with laws, taxes and other issues being set at European rather than national level?” At least that’d be more honest.
Malcolm Stacey
Europe gives far more dosh to Wales than the British Government who ignore the Land of Our Fathers like there’s no tomorrow. So yes I support Europe. But not their corruption. And I don’t like Ukip’s view on immigration.
Jason
What’s not to like Malcolm? ~ Treat all migrant applications equally wherever they come from in the world giving priority to genuine asylum cases and for applicants who have skills needed by the UK. The current scheme allows unlimited Europeans to enter the UK irrespective of skills or even ability to support themselves but even skilled workers from the rest of the world including those with strong historical links to the UK such as India, Singapore or Ghana have to jump through hoops or can’t get in at all.
As to Europe giving money to Wales… umhh that’s roughly 1 in 3 £‘s paid by UK taxpayers coming back to the UK and we’re supposed to be grateful? Wales (& NI) should join England in demanding that the Barnett formula is updated so there’s fairer distribution across the UK.
Striebs
Malcolm ,
UKIP want the UK to determine it’s own points based border policy and stop discriminating against applications from outside the EU . What is so wrong about that ?
Do you have any sympathy for those less able Briton’s who have had the only jobs they are capable of doing given to grossly overqualified people from overseas ?
Or are they and their families just collateral damage ?
Is it OK to make it easy for companies to bring in labour for overseas when our own graduates who have taken on significant debt are trying to get their start in life ?
A.T.
Tom Winnifrith, I admire your stance and knowledge on stock exchange issues, but your “100% Eurosceptism” makes my admiration to you reach near ZERO.
As for the others who brag on so proudly about being pro-UK and anti-EU, I could write pages and pages to dismantle your short-sighted parochial views, I’ll just say that you are the typical bunch of old British white-haired farts with their mind stuck in the Rule Britannia era, you remind me of Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show.
You are simply delusional in your arguments that coming out of the European Union will give you better prospects at “a short term economic cost”: you are just going to drift into misery, political irrelevance and oblivion. So much for trying to resurrect the great British empire….
The drivel that I see, from people I would expect to be more intelligent from dealing on the financial markets, goes some way to explain why the stock market reacts so stupidly sometimes. And what’s this talk of protecting “our territorial integrity”??? Since when is the EU trying to take away pieces of land from a member state?
I just hope and trust that the majority of British people still have some common sense, and use it at this wretched and dangerous referendum to avert the disaster of a EU exit.
Mike Pearson
The money Europe “gives” us is just the money we were obliged to send them in the first place, but with a whole chunk confiscated to maintain the bloated unelected beaurcratic scumbags in their feathered nests. A bit like sending them whole milk and getting skimmed milk back and watching them bathe in the cream. And then we have to look at all the signs telling us that “this” project or whatever was completed with European Funding. Lying scum. IT WAS OUR MONEY TO BEGIN WITH!
Anyone who cannot see what they are up to with respect to Britain has their eyes shut. Listen to the Poles – Britain should stay in the EU (because they subsidise the rest of us to the hilt).
We should note the Norwegian and Swiss position. If they can survive outside the EU then Britain certainly can, with or without Scotland, Wales or Ulster. May that should be England then. I don’t have a problem with parts oh Britain being supported by other parts of Britain especially since I live in what some describe as the grim north but I am bloody fed up having to support every bugger else!

In evaluating the Britain of today, perhaps, many of us old British white-haired farts are distrustful and sceptical with the policies and announcements that emanate from the unelected bureaucrats of the European political elite with good reason.
I don’t think I’m alone in assessing that the United Kingdoms forty odd years of European membership has proved disastrous both politically and economically.
Our wealth exported to rebuild and support the idle, inefficient, corrupt, feckless nations of Southern and Eastern Europe. An economic market were the UK is SO successful that we buy £56 billion more in goods and services from our European Partners than they buy from US!
And as Merkel and Hollande start squaring up to Putin they will no doubt be relying on the young men and women of this nation to lay down their lives again in defence of European freedom and democracy, should shove come to push!
This great nation of ours has nothing to fear from leaving the European Union but everything to gain, not least our right to determine our own destiny!
Jason
lol AT’s 3rd paragraph sums up the pro-EU position… the UK is shit, it can’t wipe it’s own arse and will fail if it has the self-confidence to go it alone. I think AT will be unpleasantly surprised when he(?) sees just how many young people vote out as it’s their generation not just the old who see little to benefit them from the EU.
PS I’m not white haired and never lived in the British Empire, it was long gone before I was born!
