This article was posted as a comment on ShareProphets but after discussion with Tom Winnifrith I am happy for it to gain a wider audience and Tom is very keen that both sides of the argument be heard. Tom's articles and bearcasts on Boohoo (BOO) are utter nonsense. Let's take each point in turn;

The editor of ShareProphets ought to be congratulated as this first rate article clearly demonstrates how perfectly possible its for two opposing views can engage in debate for the benefit of all investors interested in making informed investments choices.

Boohoo is a company that is going places and its presence is becoming stronger by the day. A quick search for “Boohoo” on twitter brings up endless tweets of the target audience professing to how much they’ve spent on the website and how pleased they are with the service. Now, I’m not saying Twitter should be the sole focus of company research – that would be ridiculous – but it does give a good insight to its consumers.
As Paul says, the international expansion is the icing on the cake here. If they can gain a foothold in the lucrative US market then the sky’s the limit. I think interims will be very impressive.
I’m long and will be for years. Yesterday’s share price weakness was a gift.

Blimey Tom ………… Ive not seen “beam me up Scotty” that wound up for a long time ! And just what was it you were telling me about my poor analysis this morning ;-)
I am a bull on BOOHOO but not for Scotties reasons :- simply this . They were very stupid in developing a mobile shopping app that was non transactional . You could just look at stuff but not buy . I have a twenty something daughter who shops for England Mon to Fri and for Scotland , Ireland , Wales and Europe on sat and Sundays . Most of these girlies make 90% impulse buys . If they cant have it then and there they forget about it by the time they get face to face with a transaction point . I am led to believe that this has now changed and they can shop on their mobile app . Thus I expect sales to go through the roof . If I have got this wrong , then apple ogies to Scottie . I shall now grab my tin hat and retire to my Anderson shelter with a months rations just in case I am wrong ( again) As you already know , indepth research is not exactly my strong point !

Reading the article again, I regret the strident tone, but I was furious about Tom’s comments when I wrote it, and have calmed down a bit overnight now lol! (actually the article above WAS the toned down version, you should have seen the original! Actually it’s better that you didn’t lol!)
It was only intended as a comment on Tom’s article, but Tom decided (without consulting me) to publish it separately as a standalone article. I’m fine with that, and bravo to Tom for welcoming a counter-argument, even one rather too stridently expressed, even if I say so myself.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out – I am expecting the results next week, 29 Sept, to silence the bears, as they haven’t actually put forward anything credible yet. But we’ll see.
Bulletin board participants please note – this exchange between Tom & I is how bulls & bears SHOULD discuss stocks. Please note the complete lack of personal abuse, ad hominem attacks, etc. That’s how bulletin boards should be, and they need to change. Otherwise what’s the point in having bulletin boards, if you chase away people with an opposing view that you could learn from?

No surprises re: Tom’s unresearched bear smear on Boohoo. Isn’t spreading false misrepresentations about a company creating ‘a false market’ and illegal?
In any event, he doesn’t even know which day of the week it is.
I wouldn’t get too close to this malarky if I were you Paul. Mud sticks. It might not be only Rob Terry that the SFO takes an interest in. Or one of Tom’s targets gets angry enough and stupid enough to waste management time on proceeding against him for libel. He will come unstuck before too long with this shoot from the hip ask questions later style, imo
