In today's podacst I start with an apology to India from yesterday's Bearcast. Then it is on to defend Malcolm Stacey for his column today on refugees - for once the old boy is 100% correct although most folks seem to disagree. Then it is onto Zak's piss poor analysis of China frauds (HERE). Finally CEB Resources (CEB) which looks like a totally overvalued AIM Casino ramp.

Nice to see some sense talked in regards to CEB … Amazing what mindless ramping with twitter posts and pictures of rockets can do, makes you wonder why companies even pay for PR!

Some how I don’t think you’d be coming out with that if you were a twenty or thirty something Briton who is locked out of the housing market .
You seem to have let political dogma decide your position and then try and construct an argument to justify it .

Striebs – Think is about tom, the sooner you realize he’s an outspoken, wannabe capitalist, know it all prick, the sooner you’ll start to like him.
Yeah he’s got some weird view’s on shit, bit money hungry, bit of an ass licker, talks a lot of smack.. (don’t we all) after-all, he is just a player & to be fair to him, despite all the ney saying and haters, the man talks a great deal of sense, he’s got half a head on his shoulders and done a great deal more in this market then most.
So yeah i disagree with what he says a lot of the time, as you have done, but equally, its just one mans opinion.. & luckily for him he’s also not a 20-30 something looking to buy a house.
& in realistic terms the fact the housing market ain’t as good as it used to be for people of my age, that’s the least of our issues going forward!
Keep it up tom, it’s good stuff to send you to sleep.

Catempire , your second comment is profound but will probably be proved true .
Overwhelmingly Tom’s writings and actions are a good thing and the stuff which is not is at least in plain view .
Tom seems to be attempting to subtly shift the argument from mass immigration to immigration per se .
It is like claiming that because a pint of Guinness is good for you then 10 pints must be 10 times as beneficial .
I still find it ironic that he is making exactly the same mistake which all the lefties make – letting dogma decide their position for them and then constructing an argument to suit .

Tom, you often talk sense and have excellent taste in football teams but to suggest that the level of net immigration into this country over recent years has not impacted house prices and put significant additional pressure on health and education services is just plain silly. Similarly, with regard to jobs, a small business employer is obviously going to pick a highly qualified Eastern European over a British school leaver to do an unskilled job (coffee shop or whatever), which historically that school leaver may have done. Of course it affects their job prospects. It’s not just about fruit picking etc. Of course it’s not just immigration but it has to have had a signficant impact unless supply and demand no longer applies.
