Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
Yesterday, the fascist bully boys at PR firm Citigate Dewe Rogerson gave three different reasons for not answering a simple question about their client Fastjet (FJET). The real reason is that the answer shows that Fastjet is heading towards insolvency and needs a placing PDQ. More on that later, I have a full answer to come. Citigate tried to distract attention by claiming that I had libelled an employee by not describing her as a genius and, worse, had engaged in a racial slur by hinting she may be Greek. I think that says a lot about how senior staffers at Citigate view the bubbles for my views on and links to Greece are well known...
I live there for much of the year HERE. My family have been writing about Greece for 150 years and the mountain opposite Delphi is named after my Great Uncle who perished when falling from its peak (see HERE) in 1931. My grandmother was named after a Greek island (Lesbos - no smutty laughing at the back! - -see HERE. I met my wife in Greece, she speaks Greek and I go milk the goat at her (Greek) brother in law's house (HERE). My father writes books about Greece while I produce olive oil in the Greek mountains. When I had a bit of a breakdown four years ago it was to Greece that I fled, trekking from Crete to Albania and back. When Greece voted Oxi last year I was there in Syntagma Square as I had been all week, sharing the joy of my friends and neighbours back in the Mani - HERE. I was married in a Byron family home and Byron was read at my wedding. Do I need to go on?
Normally crony capitalists who I expose say "everyone knows he's gone to Greece to hide" but Citigate Dewe Rogerson seems to think that no-one knows I like Greece and that being a bubble is an insult. Whatever....
Anyhow, I have the answer to my question and will deal with Fastjet later. Ahead of that I reflect on a difficult 24 hours and triumph after despair with a few lines written by another great Hellenophile. Lord Byron wrote these words while riding from Ioannina in Northern Greece to Albania. His companion then was his pal Hobhouse - as it happens my father's sister married into that family. Shortly before reaching the village of Zitsa a great storm broke.
In 2012 I walked from Ioannina to Zitsa ( 20 miles up hill most of the way). I arrived a sweaty wreck. The village is known for its Byron linkage but also for its sparkling red wine and it is where I met one of the most amazing couples I shall ever meet, the baker and his wife. I compare the way they behave to the mean spirited, pompous, fascist crony capitalists of Citigate Dewe Rogerson and feel sorry for the latter. The PR folks may be materially rich but do you feel good about yourselves and the work you do?
Over to Byron...
Chill and mirk is the nightly blast,
Where Pindus' mountains rise,
And angry clouds are pouring fast
The vengeance of the skies.
Our guides are gone, our hope is lost,
And lightnings, as they play
But show where rocks our path have crost,
Or gild the torrent's spray.
Is yon a cot I saw, though low?
When lightning broke the gloom--
How welcome were its shade!--ah, no!
'Tis but a Turkish tomb.
Through sounds of foaming waterfalls,
I hear a voice exclaim--
My way-worn countryman, who calls is
On distant England's name.
A shot is fired?by foe or friend?
Another--'tis to tell
The mountain?peasants to descend,
And lead us where they dwell.
