World Cup Challenge – betting round 6

By The Saturday Prophet | Friday 20 June 2014

I’ll say nothing about the England result yesterday; other than I hope the old codgers at the FA are sharpening their axe. Hodgson was the wrong choice for the job. The antiquated tactics and man management approach, which characterised his brief spell in charge of Liverpool, were ample warning what would happen when he was put in charge of the national team. All talk of encouraging signs for the future is folly. We were embarrassed yesterday against an extremely sub-par Uruguay team, which was there to be taken. Charging round like headless chickens can be fun to watch, but doesn’t make for tournament winning football. Anyone with the slightest bit of tactical knowledge will have recognised the lack of discipline at the back, confusion in the midfield and blunted attack. We are now staring down the barrel of a gun of a possible three straight defeats; it would be foolish to count on the Costa Rica match as a gimme. Oh well, at least the betting has been going brilliantly over the next few days there are incredible odds.
