Avanti Communications - existing debt now yields 30%: that says shares toast

Yesterday Avanti Communications (AVN) issued a dire lack of profits warning. Having warned folks in a special 25 minute session at UK INvestor (HERE) that this one was heading for the knacker's yard, the bear community is vindicated. Our big call is looking good. But have you seen how the existing debt ( in which Avantis drowning) responded. It says the shares - down 60% to 24p yesterday - are near as damn it toast. The target here is 0p or very close to that.

Malcolm Stacey Caption Contest 8 - Off with the quacks

Sadly Getafix has a routine hospital visit today and so, once again, we must live without his golden prose. Luckily the greedy bastard junior doctors are not on strike for a change so we hope that normal service will resume tomorrow. But Malcolm has managed to send in a snap of one of the nurses treating him and I invite you to suggest a suitable caption in the comments section below by midnight tonight

Ouzo O'Clock - Avanti Communications crashes as I predicted

Look back at our coverage of satellite disaster story and serial issuer of fascistic lawyers letters Avanti Communications (AVN) you cannot say that we did not stand up to bambastic bully boy CEO David Williams and warn you. Today there has been a pre close trading statement, the shares have crashed by 60% to just 24p and the Fat Lady is starting to gargle. My father & I will crack open the ouzo early today.

Frontier Resources - more Reynolds magic: the Presentation is HERE

I discuss this in Bearcast today but Frontier Resources (FRI) has today announced the latest RTO by the shellmeister Adam Reynolds. We are shareholders and are taking up the open offer in full. Why?

VLK

Vislink - A few thoughts on balance sheets and compound returns

Vislink (VLK) shares are down a further 21% today to 11.65p, for a market cap of just £14.25 million, as the fallout continues from yesterday’s hideous trading update. This is an opportune moment to make a few points on the issue of falling knives and when to catch them.

SCHO

Scholium – full-year results, loss reversed & “markets stabilised”, but shares down. Hmmm…

Results for the company’s year to 31st March 2016 see rare books, arts and collectibles group Scholium (SCHO) comment “we were pleased with the performance for the year. A significant loss has been reversed and many of our core markets stabilised”. However, the shares are currently approaching 11% lower on the day, at 32.5p, in response. Hmmm…

Sad Welsh People: Avanti Communications odd one out contest

Shares in Avanti Communications (AVN) are tanking after today's shocking trading statement leaving its uber Welsh CEO David "the bombast" Williams less than happy. So below we have pictures of four Welsh folks - after recent events which is the odd one out? Answers in the comments section with a deadline of midnight tonight.

IGAS

Igas - shares sliding, is the penny starting to drop?

Shares in AIM-listed and debt-ridden Igas Energy (IGAS) hit a new low point today of just 11.5p per share. They have since recovered to 12.25p (last seen) which is still below anything registered during the slide from the heady days when previous head honcho Andrew "piggy" Austin did his sale-and-repurchase deal with Equities First Holdings LLC. Is the penny starting to drop about how big the debt problems are?

Portmeirion – you were warned & it’s now profit warning ahoy

On a May AGM update from AIM-listed homewares group, Portmeirion (PMP) I concluded, with the shares at 1155p, that “the risk/reward trade-off now certainly looks to have swung to the former at this juncture. This suggests the shares currently to be avoided” - see HERE. Hopefully this was heeded as it’s now profit warning ahoy and the shares are heading towards 850p…

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - My father worries he may be a victim of the peasants revolt

On my personal website I have a podcast HERE about how Chilcot exposes the establishment/rest of us divide again and how this will create even more anger as the war criminal Blair walks free. My father, who is lisening to me record today, fears that he is in the firing line as a member of the establishment. I then move onto the omnishambles Boxhill (BOX), Portmeirion (PMP), Vislink (VLK), Igas (IGAS), Blenheim Natural Resources (BNR), lie and jam tomorrow producer African Potash (AFPO), Frontier Resources (FRI) and finally onto the fraudsters Eden Research (EDEN) where I will be asking for your help, dear listeners, tomorrow.

When’s the next LGO placing? Neil Ritson caught on tape at AGM

Some naughty, naughty chappies appear to have taped the entire AGM of LGO Energy (LGO) on Monday. You naughty, naughty boys. Transparency for an AIM listed PLC. Whatever next? This is political correctness gone mad. If Neil finds out who is responsible he will get his favourite PR genius Steffi to spank bottoms at once. I digress lets go 14 minutes and 30 seconds into the recording...

The Final Malcolm Stacey Caption Contest winner is... The King

Day 7 of the Getafix on Holiday Caption Contests saw six entries as you can see HERE. But there was only one winner which, once again, was the King of the Caption Contests himself, Show Me The Cash. His entry to the photo below is:

BRAM

Brammer – having been in post for 18 years, CEO doesn’t last long after recent profit & debt warning

Having announced “unchanged” expectations at its 13th May AGM, Brammer (BRAM), which describes itself as “Europe's leading distributor of quality industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul products, informed on 29th June of a “reduced level of profitability”, seeing that “the group will be close to its net debt/EBITDA bank covenant at the period end”. Now it’s “Directorate Change” ahoy! …

Wales v. Portugal, a Flight of Frustration and a Quantum Cat

Hello Share Mates. My flight was about two hours late getting into Cardiff Airport after my trip to Munich. Then the plane was held for about another hour because all the lights had gone out in the terminal due to a massive power cut. So I missed the big match between Wales, where I live, and Portugal where I don't. Consequently I'm penning this in the early hours of the morning. Worse still, in a few hours' time, I will be under the surgeon's knife.

NWT

Newmark Security - Not so safe after all. A mea culpa

Steve Moore has already ably covered the Newmark Security (NWT) profit warning this morning, which see the shares marked down to 1.75p and makes my Buy rating as published here in May look rather foolish. Indulge me and I’ll see if I can offer some insights as to what investors ought to think about.

Mkango Resources - spending Chris Oil's criminal cash on netball in boNGO boNGO land, CSR rubbish

Worthless AIM and TSX listed Mkango Resources (MKA) has today issued a statement saying that it is analysing some data it had already told us that it had acquired. So in fact it is telling us nothing new at all. But it gets better. It then gives details of its "Corporate & Social Responsibility programme." Jeepers. This will make you cry.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - I am terribly sorry Mr Moron but it will not be different this time

Thanks for the messages about the family issues - hence the lack of bearcast yesterday. There will be other days like that in the next few weeks. I start with a look at Vislink (VLK) where I imagine no-one has any sympathy for the greedy bastards in charge. Then I try to explain why it is never "different this time" as I look at three bubbles bursting: tech, commercial and residential property and I discuss Cloudtag (CTAG) in the midst of that.
