Hotel Chocolat – better than a chocolate teapot
Late last week I observed ahead of a capital markets day by the self-styled 'world's most exhilarating chocolate brand' Hotel Chocolat (HOTC) that 'I will enjoy pacing through the slide deck and comments. However, what may have helped nibble the shares slightly up today is the assertion that the (no doubt) very normal style presentation agenda will culminate in a tasting session of various products'. So what was said?...

Canadian Overseas Petroleum will soon run out of cash again
At the lower end of the market if you want to get an idea of who was inside on placings then social media is often a good indicator, and in particular some of the accounts on Twitter which have significant numbers of followers and have been pushing the company hard just prior to an equity raise...

I Hope You Followed My Advice to Look at this Wealth-Making Wealth Management Wizard
Hello, Share Twiggers. Recently, I suggested you take a peek at AFH Financial Group (AFHP). Well, that makes a good start – the shares rising smartly on its half-year report. Yet, I still don't think it's too late to consider this zappy wealth management outfit. The figures are nearly as good as they get in these dangerous days. Earnings and revenue are soaring...

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: the stench of exploitation makes this uninvestable
Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks is now just £124.82 shy of its £50,000 target. If you are yet to donate, today is your last chance so please do so HERE. I have another warning from the crooked leprechaun Brian McDonnell of US Oil & Gas (USOP) and i discuss why, at every level, Amigo (AMGO) is uninvestable at almost any price.

Amigo – pass the sick bucket
It has already been established that I am not a do-gooder when I invest. My personal lifestyle is really quite boring but buying tobacco, alcoholic beverage, defence or gambling stocks - among other demerit areas - is really not an issue for me at all. Frankly, I would rather be this way around than some charlatan who sticks out the well-worn 'do as I say not as I do' line. However there are listed companies out there that I just take an immediate dislike to...and this brings me to Amigo Holdings (AMGO)...

Thomas Cook – still a sell?
Having sat on the fence for a while now, I have, somewhat belatedly, come off it and shorted a few Thomas Cook (TCG) at 13p. Last time I did this was in November 2011 when it was in a similar predicament but was bailed out by direct intervention from David Cameron, who effectively ordered the recently nationalised bankers not to pull the plug. Sadly, for shareholders this time round, I suspect that Theresa May has more on her plate right now than bailing out the company a second time...

Hello, Share Hitters. Shares in Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) have been pounded of late. This often happens to our big banks after improving results cause a share jump, though are soon forgotten. The shares are also down on Brexit fears and a falling pound. But they are beginning to look cheap to some. And it’s a hard thing to sell shares which pay a dividend of over 5%...

Reading 'At home with Superdry’s Julian Dunkerton and Jade Holland Cooper' (so you don't have to)
I wrote an article back in March bout the importance of the pareto principle in business and that 'i trust the views and instincts of founders/co-founders inherently much more than chairman with historic general experience but massively less skin in the game'. Since that article - which was primarily centred on boohoo (BOO) shares in the online fashion company have done rather well, showing that the co-founder's focus and elbows out manner has been very helpful for shareholders. But what about the other company mentioned in that article, Superdry (SDRY)?
