Idex: Worst quarter in a decade – guess how much it’s worth?

Neil Woodford doesn’t have many quoted stocks in Woodford Patient Capital Trust (WPCT) but I thought I’d look at three classic picks this weekend, two of which I’ve touched on before, the third being a brand new entrant. I’ll start by catching up with the two Norwegian quoted companies in the portfolio – first up, Idex.

Update on June Sell Calls on Mimedx and Purplebricks

I don’t propose to dwell on Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) today as it is in danger of becoming an obsession to me, as to many others. Suffice it to say that what was shaping up to be a pretty disastrous trade is looking a lot less serious and it is now clear that Musk’s claim to have funding secured for a take-private deal at $420 per share was wide of the mark to put it mildly.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Stacey & Trump wrong, Bowden misguided & Musk just Nutso - Tesla to $0?

In today's bearcast I explain a few flaws in today's article HERE by Malcolm Stacey on Brexit and shares. And why, for once, Donald Trump calls it wrong when he says companies should report less often. Then I take on Mr James Bowden of Stockemndation after his latest article HERE -why brokers and newspapers are to be ignored when they say BUY. Finally Tesla and Elon Musk, I look at the latest developments at Musk's clear mental breakdown (I should know about it, but it was six years ago for me) and at why Tesla could be a zero and far faster than folks think.

Table of shorted AIM shares - week to 17/08/2018

From the FCA's spreadsheet of short positions required to be disclosed to it, the following shows the shorted AIM shares with positions from 2017 and thus far in 2018 (by net short position %) - and if this position has increased (red), reduced (green) or remained unchanged (black) since last week...

Bowleven – disappointing drill news

One of my two share tips for 2018, AIM-listed Bowleven (BLVN), has updated the market on the first of two appraisal wells: it is bad news. As Waseem Shakoor puts it:  disappointing, but that’s drilling. I had hoped for better, but as AIM-listed UK Oil and Gas (UKOG) and fellow pie-in-the-sky oiler, AIM-listed Frontera Resources (FRR) want to ignore, no matter how loudly you shout about the potential, in the end it is only the drill-bit which matters.

UKOG

Congratulations Drunken Sailor for spotting the Bulletin Board Moron of the week

In our relaunched Bulletin Board Moron of the week contest, there were some fine examples of moronic activity by investors in Tern, UK Oil & Gas, Cloudtag, Whetstone and other great British Companies nominated by ShareProphets readers as you can see HERE. But there has to be a winner.

Still Worried About the Brexit Bogie on Your Shares? Well I'm Not.

Hello Share Clumpers. Whether or not you voted for Brexit doesn't matter. What we supporters of this magnificent website want to know is how will our shares be affected. Both in the run-up to that scary March 29th date and afterwards.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Frantic hovel tidying as the Mrs arrives tomorrow

It really is the 17th, I may have said it was the 16th at the start of this bearcast as I have spent a frantic day trying to make the Bat Room at the Greek hovel a bit less untidy ahead of the arrival of the Mrs and Joshua tomorrow. In the podcast I discuss BlueJay Mining (JAY), red flags, SP Angel and MySquar (MYSQ)

FTC

Filtronic – full-year results, is the recent share price rise merited?

Previously writing on “designer and manufacturer of microwave electronics products for the wireless telecoms infrastructure market”, Filtronic (FTC) at the start of this month, I questioned “Contract win” announcement meriting a c. 30% share price rise?, to circa 13p. The company has now announced results for its year ended 31st May 2018…

7DIG

7digital – “Triller contract win”. Ramptastic?

Shares in 7digital Group (7DIG) are currently on the rise after it has followed much-delayed 2017 results yesterday, with a “Triller contract win” announcement today…

MDZ

MediaZest – “pleased to provide shareholders with final results”. You sure?

Writing on MediaZest (MDZ) in May it was 3 deals which were to usher in positive EBITDA closed. BUT…. Now “the creative audio-visual company, is pleased to provide shareholders with final results for the year ended 31 March 2018”. Not so bad then? Er…

Bluejay Mining - The lessons

I had not realised that shamed tipster Mike Walters of Minmet, Polly Peck, 3DM (and the rest) infamy was promoting Bluejay (JAY) but the kiss of death from Old Mother Walters is just another massive red flag. With disgraced Nomad SP Angel of MySquar infamy still refusing to say whether it dumped millions of shares while urging clients to buy, this stock is uninvestable. In that light I bring you a piece out yesterday from Richard Jennings which adds to the growing bear case. Over to the boss of Align Research...

Julie Meyer is ‘avin’ a giraffe: reports Tom Winnifrith to Police tells lies in her post fact facts

To give her credit, Ms Lingerie on Expenses is still fighting and has published a new post on the Ariadne website “the facts”. Even in the post fact era she is ‘avin’ a Turkish. It is, as you can see below, laughable.

Gold

Podcast: Crash day in silver and gold

It is not a good time to be a precious metals bull. In the latest podcast from Palisade Capital David Morgan discusses the recent drop in silver and how it is another “spike low.” He argues that these massive down days are often very sudden quick drops and that these “spikes” are a good entry and exit point if you’re looking to get into the market.

The High priest of ethical CEO tweeting, David Lenigas, calls out Tesla's Musk for his sins

As we all know, David Lenigas is the high priest of ethical tweeting, never tweeting anything that could not be fully verified and as such he is the ideal man to call out Elon Musk for his sins. Next up, the Pope tells the BBC to get its house in order over sex abuse scandals...

CARD

Why Card Factory May Struggle Against Changing Trends

Hello, Share Graspers. Back in the mists of time when just a few birthday cards were first sent online, I opined that the traditional postal card might become threatened. I don't know if this view still affects the performance of the Card Factory (CARD). But it's not a share that attracts me at the moment, anyway.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast, Jim Mellon, SalvaRx and the lessons from the todger spray episode

In today's delayed podcast I look at the lessons for SalvaRx (SALV) from the Plethora (PLE) & Regent Pacific episode and ask what is happening at Regent as its shares continue to slide? I also look at the increasingly confused picture at Online Blockchain (OBC) and then ponder why CEO's should not be a guide to share prices or when to sell, ref Optibiotx (OPTI), noting also today's events at Skinbiotherapeutics (SBTX)

7DIG

7digital – FY 2017 results. Yes, 2017 – you have read it correctly!

Self-described “global leader in B2B digital music solutions”, 7digital Group (7DIG) has today announced results for its year ended 31st December 2017. Yes, 2017 – you have read it correctly!; the shares have been suspended since 2nd July. That as “in the course of the audit, certain deficiencies in our preparation were brought to the attention of the board”. Hmmm…
