Saga Works Harder to Garner Customers but the Headwinds Could be Too Strong

2019-06-21 08:19:08

Hello Shares Slayers. As a pensioner myself, I like to keep abreast of how a company which is known for focusing on the oldies is getting on. But the latest figures from Saga (SAGA) and the shaky outlook for the travel industry make me want to avoid these shares...

Saga – because I am not Bernie Madoff...mea culpa

2019-04-04 02:30:22

Whilst I wish the newly appointed Intu (INTU) CEO the best of luck (but surely as the old CFO he knows all the structural issues and a lot more) and I see Debenhams (DEB) continues to try to change whilst having materially negative like-for-like sales (not easy to say the least), the key regulatory news statement for me today has to be Saga (SAGA)...

The Saga Saga Continues as the Big Insurer Takes Steps to Bump Up Profits

2018-10-10 07:47:43

Hello, Share Squeakers. October is a fraught month for me. That’s because I spend too much effort trying to get better insurance deals for my home and car. The trouble is that comparison sites nearly always fail me because my house is rather unusual and sits by the sea. They can’t seem to grasp that because we are on top of a lofty cliff, we can never flood. Any road up, I know from my perambulations around the net that competition among insurers and their brokers is horrendous. And that’s what seems to be troubling Saga (SAGA) just now.

Saga - cruising to a higher share price?

2018-09-27 08:05:53

Since I first talked about the stock, Saga (SAGA) shares have been in a very tight range. I have picked up some decent income (the stock yields just over 7%) but - as I am not yet a fully paid-up member of Dividend Munchers United - that does not overly excite me…

Saga Battles On, but I Worry about Possibly Fading Loyalty and Stiff Competition

2018-06-22 00:03:46

You know the old updating of Shakespeare's seven ages of man speech. Well, the modern version is just four ages - lager, aga, Saga and ga-ga. Saga (SAGA) being a company which provides services for the getting-on-in-years tribe. This tribe is more numerous than it used to be - and becoming even more plentiful.

Saga: buy 'em even if you are a young 'un

2018-04-17 02:18:52

We all like shares that go up a lot but in terms of idea generation I think the biggest fallers list is by far the most interesting.  Near the end of last year I saw that the insurance and travel company Saga (SAGA) shares fell sharply after the company said that its profits would be hurt by a combination of factors including 'a lower level of written to earned benefit and a decline in reserve releases' and investing more into new 'customer acquisitions'.  The net impact was that profits were expected to be 5% lower...but the shares fell over 25%.

Summarising Life, it's Lager, Aga, Saga and Gaga. You Might Buy Into One of them

2017-09-26 00:01:37

Hello Share Mincers. One of Shakespeare’s better-known speeches is the ages of man, where he beautifully summarises the progress of our lives. A less beautiful way of saying it is: ‘Laga, Aga, Saga and Gaga’. The third word is a reference to a company which used to cater for the elderly. As a junior reporter I was once offered a freebie on one Saga (SAGA) tour for their grey-haired members. It was cancelled, sparing my embarrassment.

Zak Mir's Bull Call Of The Day: Saga: Breakout Towards 280p Expected

2015-06-22 00:14:43

Although most people may shudder at the prospect of turning 50, for me the prospect of being able to use the services of Saga (SAGA), from September next year makes my predicament not quite so daunting.
