What is going on at Headlam?

There is typically always lots of corporate reporting on a Thursday. I am not surprised to see Shell (RDSB) shares down today, despite talking about a boost to its cashflow in the third quarter. Alternatively on the share price rise of Mondi (MNDI), which might have chatted about a ‘strong performance in the third quarter with higher average prices across the business and strong volume growth year-on-year’, but also ‘a backdrop of sharply higher input costs’. As always with shares, you have to try and work out what is already factored in (and what is not). Anyhow, I thought I would talk about Headlam (HEAD), Europe’s ‘leading floorcoverings distributor, providing the channel between suppliers and trade customers of floorcoverings’.

Still a Headlam lover post its first half numbers

It has been a really good last year to be a Headlam (HEAD) shareholder but here  a couple of months ago I felt there was more to come, and I was pleased to read these thoughts here from Tom and Steve observing their appreciation hopes too.  So is there any reason to change tack after the company’s first half numbers out a few days ago?

A day late I talk about shares in hero Headlam, workable Sage Group and shocking BT Group

By my reckoning the last Thursday of July is the busiest for global stock market obsessives like me…hence why it has taken me until first thing Friday to write about some larger cap UK market highlights from the day before. First up is ‘Europe’s leading distributor of floorcoverings’, Headlam (HEAD).

Final business day of April...and Barclays lets me down

It is the final business day of April and from the perspective of stocks I own, there is some good and some less good news.  Let’s start with a small positive at Headlam (HEAD) the ‘Europe’s leading floorcoverings distributor’ which I have loved up for a while and last month, here, discussed ‘the rationale to get back to a 500p plus share price’.  This morning I noted the company announced ‘it has entered into an agreement to dispose of its wholly-owned Swiss business, Belcolor AG to the management team of Belcolor…As a result of the disposal, Headlam will realise approximately £12.0 million’.  Given the company’s near £400 million market cap, it is not a massive deal but a sensible one, as the key focus for the business is the evolving UK business.  It is also nice to add a little bit more cash too.  In short – along with the two readers who kindly commented on the article above last month – for me it continues to be a good core position.

Rejoice! Value chasing pays off at Headlam Group

The last time I wrote about floor coverings distribution company Headlam (HEAD), back in September I titled the article ‘Me and a bunch of value investors agree on Headlam Group: Buy’. The shares were kicking around 275p back then and today they are almost a quid higher, assisted by a nice bounce today. So what is going on?…

Late August classic: travel (WH Smith) and...flooring (Headlam)

No doubt a few of you are reading this either on holiday or having just returned from one. And little doubt quite a few of you popped into a branch of WH Smith (SMWH) during your travels – certainly more of you than has popped into your local High Street equivalent. The last time I wrote about the share I concluded 'I think I would still be interested on a clear sub £20/share fall'

Headlam warns again... Time to buy?

Back in August I mused about Headlam (HEAD), which claims to be 'Europe's largest distributor of floorcoverings, providing the distribution link between suppliers and customers across the UK and Continental Europe'. Since then the shares have fallen further and today's update has deepened that trend…

Headlam - quiet day shocker as I talk about a small cap

With a relative dearth of larger cap news out today I turn my attention to Headlam (HEAD), which is apparently 'Europe's largest distributor of floorcoverings, providing the distribution link between suppliers and customers across the UK and Continental Europe'.
