The Barclays boss and Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton's paedo mate, the late Jeffrey Epstein

Hello November! The eleventh month of the year has always been an interesting one for the world’s investors with over the last 70, 20 or 10 years only April – on average – generating a similar return. Of course nothing is guaranteed but the reason why November has on average performed well is a combination of Q3 earnings updates and building hopes towards upcoming end of year brokerage updates towards the following year. It is not guaranteed, but its all good active investment fun and now for a couple of bits of excitement in today’s news.

Money raising and a rejected takeover, so what is going on at easyJet?

I have been an easyJet (EZJ) fan for a while and, whilst holding some shares going into the COVID-19 crisis hurt, doubling up on the shares just under eighteen months ago has worked out well. So today’s complex update is of interest at many levels…especially as the shares today are down by more than 10% to only just over a 7 quid price following news of a (turned down) takeover approach and a decision to raise money. What is going on?

Esken (former Stobart Group) – update on Ryanair Departure

As I had hoped, fully listed Esken (ESKN) has updated the market this morning on Friday’s Red Flags at Night announcement that Ryanair is departing from London Southend Airport. Good news…..well, up to a point.

Red Flags at Night: Esken (ex-Stobart Group) Announces Departure of Ryanair from Southend at 5.36pm

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. 5.36pm on  a Friday evening in August – just as the City dives into its second G&T after a long week, or is already far away on holiday – clearly is a good  time to bury bad news! Fully listed Esken (ESKN) – the former Stobart Group (STOB) – has announced, at no-one is watching O’Clock, that Ryanair (RYA) has decided to chop its operations at Southend airport. It is yet another hammer blow for Esken’s/Stobart’s punch-drunk shareholders. The timing – apart from being announced late on a Friday evening when everybody had gone home – is even more terrible as Esken is in the middle of an open offer alongside the recent placing at 14p. With the shares having already dropped to 16p to sell at Friday’s close, will this news kybosh the whole operation?

RyanAir – what is its real cash position as it still shits on customers from on high while snaffling taxpayer funds?

Michael O’Leary and RyanAir (RYA) boasts that it has, or had, one of the strongest balance sheets in the industry. But is its stated cash balance the true balance or is it inflated by shitting on its customers. Let me introduce you to my brother-in-law and his family….

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Maybe this time the odious bullshitter O'Leary is right

In today's podcast I look at the pronouncements from the odious leprechaun at Ryanair (RYA), Michael O'Leary. He may be right in what he says but that is no reason to buy airline shares. Then I cover Corero (CNS), Open Orphan (ORPH), where I am both vindicated after Friday's letter to AIM Regulation and also a seller of more shares today, Novacyt (NCYT), Collagen (COS), Falanx (FLX), and Bidstack (BIDS). Thanks to those who have donated to Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks but most of you have not yet! Please do spare a few bob as the campsite needs our help urgently if it is to make it to 2021. Donate HERE

Video: Michael O'Leary whines for Ireland on EU flag carrier bailouts

Remember when the noxious leprechaun told us that RyanAir (RYA) might have to quit Britain if we voted for Brexit? It seems he is not leaving now and thinks we Britishers are jolly good chaps for bailing out his airline even though it sits on a vast cash pile. However, as his airline faces massive price competition as EU member states break all the rules to bail out flag carriers, O'Leary took to CNBC to complain. Of course he is correct, this is a crazy breach of the rules and spunk of taxpayer cash. But as a consumer facing years of cheap flights with the added joy of seeing the odious O'Leary kicked in the gonads and EU taxpayers stiffed with the bill my libertarian anger is somewhat muted.  Enjoy the video.

Ryanair Could Face Headwinds which Might Keep the Share Price Grounded

Hello Share Flingers. It’s easy to spot possible headwinds in the flying game. The green lobby against air travel is getting stronger. Brexit will make travel to 27 countries more difficult. Oil prices are rising again after a brief rest. The fallen pound makes trips abroad more expensive and so on...

Ryanair – 'lowest costs wins' says the company which admits 'zero H2 visibility'

Why Ryanair Shares May Not Fly So Well in the Future

Hello, Share Wobblers. Investing in airlines is something I stopped doing a long time ago. And since I sold my British Airways shares years ago, I’ve probably saved a lot of money. It’s such a volatile sector. It’s at the mercy of world economics, rising fuel prices, fierce competition, strikes and compensation claims...

Share price shockers at easyJet and the Royal Mail

A rough old start for certain large cap UK equities this week. Tom has already commented on Ryanair (RYA) and today's September traffic from the same company does nothing to encourage me to bottom fish here. By contrast, the knock-on impact on easyJet (EZJ) shares - which I loved up on these pages on Saturday - has been pretty savage, pushing the shares down 10% odd since the Friday close…

Tom Winnifrith's Bearcast: Big Sofa's boss Liddington is a corporate wanker who should be fired

I have told this to Simon Liddington to his face but my comments merit a wider audience. I apologise for a dire share tip. I have lost £40,000 myself on Big Sofa (BST) and I must take blame for my own decisions. But I also have words for Arden Partners but the buck stops with the pathetic failure Liddington who MUST GO NOW! I also comment on Avanti Communications (AVN), Ryanair (RYA) and on Rosslyn  Data Technologies (RDT) and Avocet (AVM)

Getting sleazy with easyJet

We all love to hate the low cost airline carriers but at least easyJet (EZJ) has not completely shot itself in the foot like its great peer Ryanair (RYA) which appears incapable of having even half reasonable internal labour relations.  EasyJet has also been smart in taking advantage of some airline sector developments by hiring staff from the failed UK airline Monarch and buying assets in Germany following the Air Berlin bankruptcy.

Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: Stupid Theresa May jumps on gender pay gap bandwagon, media fails to see how meaningless data really is

As you know I care greatly about the way meaningless data is misinterpreted when it comes to the gender pay gap. That got me into an Orwellian soup thanks to a bedwetting millennial when I gave THIS lecture at Bath Spa University. Today is the day by when all companies must publish gender pay data. But the data offered is utterly meaningless and the fact that Theresa May uses it as she jumps on the bandwagon show what a silly woman she is. The BBC is wilfully misreporting it too as you can see below ref RyanAir (RYA). I explain why today's wall to wall coverage is so misleading.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Eric Schaer of MySQUAR your soul will burn in hell you bastard & your company is a POS too

A recent statement by MySquar (MYSQ)confuses genocide and mass rape with "civil unrest". This is obscene and shows that the company is morally bankrupt. Its CEO Eric Schaer will see his soul burn in hell for this and it makes me unspeakably angry. The company is a worthless piece of crap but promoting that is not now Eric's biggest sin. All is explained in this podcast. I also cover China New Energy (CNEL), Ryanair (RYA) - see this link - Petro Matad (MATD), FastForward (FFWD) and, in some detail, Paternoster Resources (PRS).

Time to boycott Ryanair it lies and treats passengers with contempt once too often

At no-one is watching O'Clock on Friday , 5.29 PM, Michael O'Leary's Ryanair (RYA) slipped out a statement that is obviously a lie shows utter contempt for its customers. Not that this is a novelty. My boycott of RyanAir has started t how long before others do the same an RyanAir starts to suffer financially. Lying to and treating customers like shit is surely a bad business model.

Up and Away with British Airways (International Consolidated)? Perhaps Not.

Hello Share Hammerers. I cashed in my British Airways shares before the price of aviation fuel crashed. This timing error cost me a lot of money. And you probably agree with me that selling just before a share price leap is probably the nastiest feeling a share shifter can experience.

Ryanair - This is how you run an airline! Although the shares are probably not a Buy

I know that the Sherriff of these parts is no fan of Michael O'Leary (and I also disagree with the Irishman's stance on Brexit) but there is no denying the fact that he changed air travel for the better by providing greater capacity at lower prices than anyone had previously done. Today's Q1 result shows how the momentum continues.

Celebrate remaining in Europe says Michael O'Leary - feck off you odious leprechaun

Ryanair’s comments tell me to buy EasyJet

I have an idea what Ryanair (RYA) supremo Michael O’Leary might say to this idea but reading through his company’s full year update today I could not help but think that it is time to buy EasyJet (EZJ).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Ryanair's Michael O'Leary hoisted on his own fecking EU £315m petard - rejoice!

The link is in the side bar but Ryanair (RYA) Euro loon Michael O'Leary  is today hoisted on his own £315 million EU petard. Fecking excellent news. Elsewhere I look at the piece of Turkish that is Golden Saint Resources (GSR) - still pissing away £3k a month on PR genius Steffi - as it heads for insolvency again. Then it is onto Nighthawk (HAWK) and Trinity Exploration (TRIN) and the problems for banks that lend to oil companies. Then I refer to HSS Hire (HSS) and cover Andalas (ADL) again as its shares sink like a stone. They have a lot further to sink, sell now!

Michael O Leary tells Loathsome & Evil Google to stop ripping off its fecking customers

You know that Michael O'Leary of RyanAir (RYA) is a bit of a hero of mine because he is a) Irish, b) a man who swears a lot and c) a man who tells the EU where to fecking stick it. I still loathe using his loathsome airline as it treats its customers like shit but O'Leary is a superstar. And now his company is sticking it to evil Google, possibly the world's most loathsome company. Go for it O'Leary.

It’s Hey Up and Away! as this Yorkshire Lad Suggests We Look at Airlines.

Hello Share Muddlers: In an earlier piece this week, I opined that we should not be fearful of investing in airlines, just because murderous terrorists are at large. The argument was that there are so few airline incidents that the chances of being embroiled in one are more or less nil. And yet airline shares have suffered in the last few weeks. Ever since that crash of the flight from Egypt to Russia, to be exact.

Buy cuddly "new" Ryanair at 7.02 Euro

So, with the 152 % increase in Q1 profitability and – more fundamentally important the reported 4% in passenger numbers – is the curse of O’Leary be lifted for Ryanair; transformed into something more endearing and cuddly than the hard bitten reputation of past times? The thing that makes equity investing the dynamic thing it is – for good or ill – is the fact that companies are managed by people and people can adapt to change and challenge, as Mr. O’ Leary is clearly attempting to do now. The fact that 4% more passengers have elected to go Ryanair suggests that he has won through; or at least is not still on the back foot in terms of public appreciation of Ryanair Holdings (RYA).
