It is hard to know what to say about the latest news from African Potash (AFPO) so I present its latest release to you in full below. Fan-bloody-blockchain-tastic. Elsewhere I comment on BCA Marketplace (BCA), Torotrak (TRK0, Optibiotix (OPTI) and Fishing Republic (FISH)

Greencore - sandwiches are a better theme than blockchain!

I have something to confess. I perused the online Guardian newspaper over the weekend...and I did particularly enjoy one article. Fortunately, it was not anything political (I have not completely lost my marbles) but it did involve a fascinating business case study over time of the humble sandwich. Or as one contributor to the article observed 'we are light years ahead of the rest of the world'. Clearly the Earl of Sandwich has a lot to be thanked for. At the front of the queue in terms of British sandwich production is Greencore (GNC), whose heritage is in sugar beet but is now the top supplier of choice to all but one of the major supermarkets.

Milestone Group – the latest beneficiary of blockchain ramping madness

Following an increase in its share price by 70% to reflect a value of the group of almost £9 million, Milestone (MSG) had to put out the following RNS:

Chris Oil is back - surely another sign of a market top

The only suprise is that the market abuser Chris Oil has not rebranded as Chris BlockChain. But after an absence of well over a year from the public arena, the man who, modestly, compared himself to Warren Buffett is back! Hooray, his investment advice has always been a golden (counter) indicator.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: No Malcolm (Palle) it is 2000 and not 1997 and here's why!

I start with the issue of whether Blockchain bonkers-ness is so 1997 as comrade Malcolm Palle of Coinsilium (COIN) - which we own shares in - says or late 2000. I explain why it is the latter and cite today's bonkers share price move at On Line (ONL). Then it is on to MySqaur (MYSQ), Xaar (XAR) and Bagir (BGR) which is, I think, talking bollocks.

Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: AIM Companies starting to surf the wave of Blockchain madness - I've seen this all before

In this bonus podcast prompted by recent events at African Potash (AFPO) and ADVFN (AFN) I look back on other bouts of market insanity. There was the radio boom of the 1920s and the dot com boom of 1999-2001 but is the blockchain bubble at 1999, 2000 or 2001? Among the companies also mentioned are On Line (ONL), Vela (VELA), Milestone Group (MSG)  and Coinsilium (COIN), where we have a small holding. Madness, my friends, is in the air.

The Russian Bear & Blockchain

The World Gold Council has recently reported that the Central Bank of Russia has more than doubled the speed of its gold purchases, bringing its reserves to the highest level since Putin took power 17 years ago. Russia’s desire to break away from the dominance of the U.S. dollar and the dollar payment system is well-known. Over 60% of global reserves and 80% of global payments are in dollars. Importantly also the U.S. is the only country with veto power at the International Monetary Fund, the global lender of last resort. Russia’s most aggressive weapon in its war on dollars is gold.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Is this peak blockchain insanity - the strange case of On Line up 350%

Shares in On Line (ONL) are - as I record - up c350%. Is this peak blockchain insanity or is Clem Chambers simply the greatest spoofer in the history of mankind? What happens next is the big question. Then I look at murky share dealings in Mkango Resources (MKA) by market abuser and serial fantasist Chris Oil. Does he not care about TR1 rules at all? Then it is onto Lombard Risk Management (LRM) where I have 2 more questions about its overdraft but a very big question about how the silky words of Phil "InterX" Crawford on July 19 tally with the utterly shite H1 results. Does Nomad Finncap of Telit (TCM) infamy care? I suspect it does not. I look again at BCA Marketplace (BCA)  - THE BIG SHORT - in light of recent macro data. It remains a stupendous short. I look at management greed and an impending placing to fund that at Arian Silver (AGQ) and then at the dire interims from System1 (SYS1) and profits alert from Attraqt (ATQT). It is the former which remains a stonking sell even after today's share price collapse. And I have a question or two for AIM dog Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO).

On-Line - Spoooooooooooooooof! Gotcha says ADVFN's Clem Chambers

I would not want to play poker against ADVFN (AFN) and On Line (ONL) boss Clem Chambers. The man has pulled off a blinder of a spoof this morning with On Line which has sent its shares soaring by 50%. It is all bollocks but I take my hat off to Clem anyway for pulling off such a classic spoof.

Bitcoin, Cryptocurrencies, ICOs the Beginning of a New Tech Sector Bubble

I really do not get this bitcoin shite at all, however much my pal Dominic Frisby tries to explain it to me. I just fear it will end in tears but I am cognisant that some folks have made a complete killing on it so far. In a podcast with Palisade Capital, sector guru Michael Pole makes some bold calls. Is this just the start of the gold rush or are we close to dotcom bust in 2001?

Milestone Group: Shocking ramptastic RNS’s with just one purpose – placing anyone?

Tom and I have been pretty consistent in our criticism of lifestyle company, Milestone Group (MSG), and although it was touched upon in Friday’s Bearcast (HERE), I thought the ridiculous recent RNS’s required a bit more of a kicking. It is an appalling effort with one sole purpose, to try to seduce new mug punters into supporting this useless company.

Milestone Group – Shocking year-end results, surely this lifestyle farce must come to an end soon

I wrote about Milestone Group (MSG) back in November (HERE) highlighting it as one of the best examples of a lifestyle company on AIM. That combined with the lack of disclosure around the (lack of) funding in October suggests one should stay well clear. Today’s results for the full year to 30 September 2016 only emphasise that fact.

Vela - Busy bees: buy

There are three bits of news from investment company Vela (VELA) and on balance all are good.

Vela Interims - These admin expenses we like

Tired of AIM boards who take the piss, bigging it up at the expense of shareholders? Yes we are too. So before going any further we note with some pleasure that half year admin expenses at Vela PLC (VELA) were just £62,000. That is good. Well done.

How blockchain will revolutionise far more than money

The impact of record-keeping on the course of history cannot be overstated. For example, the act of preserving Judaism and Christianity in written form enabled both to outlive numerous other contemporary religions, which were preserved only orally. William the Conqueror’s Domesday Book, compiled in 1086, and it was still being used to settle land disputes as late as the 1960s. Now there is a new system of digital record-keeping, emerging and it will speed up the de dollarisation of the world, which has serious implications for us all, not just the West. It is called the blockchain and it is not going away and it will change the way the world interacts.

Crash

Blockchain to end the US dollars central role of facilitating global trade - this has huge implications.

2014 was a watershed moment in global banking when the Obama administration fined French bank BNP Paribas $9 billion for doing business with countries that the US did not at the time like, namely Cuba and Iran even though the bank did not violate any French laws. Nor did it matter that only months later the President of the United States inked a sweetheart nuclear deal with Iran and flew down to Cuba to attend a baseball game with his new best friends. BNP had to pay up because if they did not the US government threatened to kick them out of the US banking system. Whilst B$9 billion hurt being kicked out of the US banking system would have stopped the back playing on the global stage. Big international banks in particular cannot function if they don’t have access to the US banking system.

Do you understand bitcoin and blockchain? No. Neither do I. At UK Investor Show a panel organised by Coinsilium (COIN) including Dominic Frisby tried to explain the excitement and the investment opportunity.

Time to bank some gold profits for now

With turmoil on markets across the world, gold has seen a resurgence in popularity since the start of the year. It was as recently as late autumn of 2015 when many seemed to be predicting that gold would drop below the $1,000 area, and could possibly even go as low as the $800-850 range.

Q&A with Coinsilium ahead of its Christmas Eve IPO

Coinsilium Group (COIN) shares commence trading tomorrow on ISDX as the first Blockchain technology IPO. We own shares. Ahead of the IPO here is a detailed Q&A with the company’s Executive Chairman Cameron Parry, and CEO Eddy Travia.

I’m following the Jim Mellon crew and taking a small Bitcoin punt on Coinsilium

I do not understand Bitcoin, blockchain technology and the like. I leave that to smarter folks like Dominic Frisby who will be presenting on it at Gold & Bears and my good friend Jim Mellon who will – I’m sure – mention it in his G&B talk. This could all be the next phooey hype but it could be big so I’m getting a small exposure via Coinsilium – a two year old blockchain investor listing on ISDX later this month. I’m backing Jim’s judgement on this one.
