Published 26 days ago

In today's bearcast I cover Optibiotix (OPTI), Vela (VELA), Woodford Patient Capital trust (WPCT), Ascent Resources (AST), Mosman Oil & Gas (MSMN), Management Resource Solutions (MRS), Bidstack (BIDS) and Optiva/Novum and a hot City rumour. Also I have a message for 90% of listeners - please be a hero today, my 21 mile training walk for this weekend has been planned so donate to Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks HERE

Ascent Resources – and there’s the placing as it exploits permit ‘delight’

Published 27 days ago

Ascent Resources (AST) “is pleased to announce that it has completed an oversubscribed placing of 214,285,714 ordinary shares… with a small number of institutional investors. The placing was conducted at a price of 0.35 pence per share”Particular credit to Evil Banksta – and the company “pleased to announce”, with the price a 30% discount to the prior close?! (“oversubscribed” not exactly an achievement then!)...

Ascent Resources - placing inevitable and imminent - surely it is time just to put this dog down?

Published 31 days ago

My attention was drawn to Ascent Resources (AST) last nightby a number of rampy comments on the boards.  It’s one that I’ve shorted in the past and if you can get borrow then I suggest that you think of doing that when markets open after the long weekend.  The analysis is simple: Ascent is a dog, its business model is farcical, it’s run out of cash again, rather coincidentally (as is always the case on AIM) the share price has been ramped in the last week and a discounted bucket shop placing must be just round the corner

Ascent Resources – permit ‘delight’… but still more needed

Published 35 days ago

Ascent Resources (AST) has updated that the “crucially important” IPPC permit has been confirmed by the Slovenian Environment Agency to the company’s partners “as fully valid, no further appeals against the permit are possible” – and shares in the company have currently responded to 0.625p, 25% higher…

Closing 5PM Sunday: This weekend's Primary Bid offer is Ascent Resources at 0.3p - you know I am almost tempted

Published 121 days ago

Ok Ascent (AST) has been screwed by the Slovenia government but it may yet extract value there and it is now ,looking at other "identified" opportunities. backed by Henderson it will survive and I do not blame the management for what happened but the Slovenes so I sort of rate Colin Hutchinson and his team. After all, an Ulster man can do no wrong in my eyes. So this is just a sub penny share punt and I am almost temptedto take up the offer via Primary Bid as a small flutter. Here's why...

Ascent Resources – having previously warned, what’s the latest?

Published 193 days ago

Having been slumping at the time of my previous update at the end of last month, shares in Ascent Resources (AST) have recently nudged higher, with the company having made “Posting of Circular and Notice of General Meeting” and “Corporate Update” announcements…

Tom Winnifrith (more bad language) Bearcast: Update on the bastards at Barclays and hard questions for SP Angel and my old pal Jim Mellon

Published 202 days ago

Warning there is plenty of bad language in the podcast - perhaps do not play it in front of the kids. I start with an update on those bastards at Barclays (BARC) who I discussed yesterday. I then look at Victoria (VCP), Jim Mellon's Port Erin (PEBI), two SP Angel dogs MySquar (FRAUD) and BjueJay Mining (JAY) and have new and serious questions for the shamed Nomad to consider. I look at Frontera (FRR) and its looming bailout placing, at Ascent Resources (AST) and at Rainbow Rare Earths (RBW). I also discuss the market sell off commending a reader who notes both my genius and my modesty on this matter.

Ascent Resources – I warned ‘what’s happened with previous verbal assurances of support?’, and now…

Published 203 days ago

In early August, as its shares soared on the back of a “Permitting update” including “the company has been assured the required permits will be processed without undue, further delay, which the company takes to mean they should be issued in final form in the next two months”, I warned on Ascent Resources (AST) - positive permit assurances… but what’s happened with previous verbal assurances of support?. The shares are currently slumping on the back of a further permitting update…

Ascent Resources – positive permit assurances… but what’s happened with previous verbal assurances of support?

Published 284 days ago

After an “Operational Update” from Ascent Resources (AST), despite stating “pleased with the progress of the strategic review”, had seen the shares crashing at the start of this week, they are currently soaring on the back of a “Permitting update”

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: no need to send ouzo: my advice to Pantheon Resources is on me, just because I am such a nice guy

Published 287 days ago

In today's podcast I look once again at Argo BlockChain (ARB) filling in a few errors and ommissions by Cynical Bear. I cover Ascent Resources (AST) which looks grim, WanDisco (WAND) and Pantheon Resources (PANR) where, once again, I demonstrate what a terribly nice chap I am.

Ascent Resources – “pleased with the progress of the strategic review to date”. You cannot be serious!!!

Published 288 days ago

An “Operational Update” from Ascent Resources (AST) commences “as previously announced, the company commenced a strategic review in April 2018 to review the various options available for the company to maximise value for shareholders” and later includes “the board is pleased with the progress of the strategic review to date and discussions are ongoing with a number of different parties”. Good, good - ‘Pleasing’ progress towards maximising value for shareholders then… and the shares have currently responded… er, circa 40% lower towards 0.40p!?...

Tom Winnifrith bearcast - chatting to HMRC about a devout Christian - Praise The Lord

Published 377 days ago

The dossier is now submitted. More on that later if Joshua has a nap. Pro tem I look at Pantheon Resources (PANR), Mirriad Advertising (MIRI), Ascent (AST), Vela (VELA) and why capitalism sometimes stinks - and at Greggs (GRG)

UK Investor Show 2018 Video: Colin Hutchinson of Ascent Resources

Published 387 days ago

Ascent Resources (AST) is controversial and with its strategic review, very much in the news. But the Ulster Man does not hide and so in that regard I SUFTUM - Colin Hutchinson could have ducked UK Investor but opted not to and here is what he had to say.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - that Dominic Frisby is a very funny fellow

Published 399 days ago

I was chatting to Dom Frisby this morning ahead of the Sarries evening tomorrow which is the first part of UK Investor (gold tickets only).  More on that in the podcast where I also look at UK house prices, Ascent Resources (AST), Immupharma (IMM), investing in biotech, PCGE (PCGE), MySquar (MYSQ) and its new marriage from hell and at Versarien (VRS). Tin hat on after that annoying its deranged fans by daring to ask questions. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 - THIS SATURDAY - one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Make sure you book a free ticket HERE using the promotional code WINNIFRITH.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - Possibly the best podcast ever - Sam Antar is the King

Published 409 days ago

Not this one but one I recorded yesterday with my pal the king fraudster Sam Antar who created the original Panama Pump. Sam was on fine form and I shall unleash that podcast in a couple of weeks time but it was awesome.  I pick up on a few themes from it and discuss Ascent Resources (AST), Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO) - read Nigel's brilliant piece, about a company where I own 1 share so I can attend GMs,  HERE - and Strat Aero (AERO). If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Tom Winnifrith bearcast: this time Neil Woodford is only talking 50% bollocks but what about Brokerman Dan on Ascent you ask?

Published 535 days ago

The publicity hungry, failing, fund manager Neil Woodford is all over the papers. On the markets he's right ( and bearish) but when discussing his own (failing) funds he is talking utter bollocks and I explain why. Brokerman Dan (Levi) has formed a shareholder action group on Ascent Resources (AST). I discuss his case against them and make a few suggestions to the company. I comment on R4E (R4E) on the disgraceful behaviour of Pathfinder Minerals (PFP), look at RM2 (RM2) and then finally at Sabien (SNT) which look either to be on the brink of a last gasp fundraise ( at a more than 99% discount to the IPO price) or of insolvency. In the same breath I mention Inspirit (INSP), another AIM boiler room dog that should be shot.

Ascent Placing - the deal that shows Primary Bid has come of age

If you are not a Primary Bid member you should join now HERE. Friday's deal by Ascent Resources (AST) shows why. The £1 million placing was announced at just after hours on Friday at 1.66p. Now look what happened...

This weekend's Primary Bid offer - its Ascent Resources (again): Deadline Sunday

Published 570 days ago

I seem to remember that this is the second time Ascent (AST) has used Primary Bid for a fund raise. The first time worked out well enough.. Anyhow it is back at the trough again raising £1 million in a fully underwritten offer at 1.66p.

Video: Colin Hutchinson, CEO of Ascent Resources, presents at UK Investor Show 2017

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I stand corrected, the CEO was not in the bath & killers gorge, political correctness gone mad

Published 824 days ago

After the Slater & Gordon (SGH) bearcast earlier you may have thought that I was sleeping off half a bottle of ouzo. Au contraire, I have been touring the Mani with George the Architect, the man who helped me to expose InternetQ last year. We went past Killers Gorge. Why can't you kill unsuitable boyfriends of your daughter or sister any more? As my daughter prepares to turn 16 this year I sadly conclude that this is yet another example of political correctness gone mad.  In terms of stocks I offer a couple of corrections on Tracsis (TRCS) after yesterday's bearcast then look at Xtract Resources (XTR), Ascent Resources (AST), FastForward (FFWD), the over ramped hype company with which my good friend Jim Mellon is involved, Cobham (COB), Infrastructure India (IIP) and also the fraud Cloudtag (CTAG). And I refer to a drooling Evil Knievil ref THIS ARTICLE.

Ascent Resources £3m fund raise shows PrimaryBid has come of age - why aren't you signed up?

Published 829 days ago

You know that I am a massive supporter of Primary Bid as it gives ordinary punters the chance to take part on placings hitherto reserved either for fund managers or for bucket shops. The platform has now really come of age with news of a £3 million fund raise for Ascent Resources (AST), a stock I quite like. If you are not signed up you are MAD so do so here.

In this webcast I look at Fitbug (FITB), Cloudtag (CTAG) - Waseem is just wrong! - Challenger Acquisitions (CHAL), Ascent Resources (AST), Aquatic Foods (AFG), China frauds in general and in detail - to help Andrew Monk - Haike Chemicals (HAIK).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Ahead of a trip to Paddy's House

Published 1076 days ago

The excitement mounts - we are soon off to vist the house of superhero Paddy Leigh Fermor as I explain HERE. Ahead of that I look at: Ascent Resources (AST), Volex (VLX), Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO), African Potash (AFPO), Blenheim Natural Resources (BNR), Fastjet (FJET). Aureus Mining (AUE) and China New Energy (CNEL).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Boxhill, Avanti, Eden, the race to ZERO

Published 1084 days ago

Ho Ho Ho, documents regarding Boxhill (BOX) have now arrived at Sheriff Towers. Can you hear me Lord Tim Razzall, are you sweating yet? I think Boxhill will beat Avanti Communications (AVN) and Eden Research (EDEN) to zero but all three are fighting hard to win and are discussed in detail. I look at Ascent (AST), Fusionex (FXI), Falcon Acquisitions (FAL) and Challenger Acquisitions (CHAL). Woof Woof Mark Gustafson.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 7 May - back in Greece & despairing of humanity

Published 1109 days ago

I have landed in Kalamata and start with a look at where Greece is now. My friend John the bike man seems to have gone bust. He is not alone. There is a three-day general strike underway but the EU reckons that Greece has solved all its problems? The EU is the problem, or rather the Euro is. Then I look at why I sometimes despair of humanity and notably some of the people in the world of small caps and AIM. I am taking it easy for the summer as a result. Finally some praise for Marcus Stuttard the bogus Sheriff of AIM but then also some criticism and suggestions re African Potash (AFPO) and Ascent Resources (AST)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - distracted by a fascist in the wind and a vet's visit

Published 1110 days ago

The distractions are explained in the podcast and the fascist in the wind link is HERE. In the main podcast I look at Ascent (AST), Ncondezi Energy (NCCL), Forbidden Tech (FBT), Interserve (IRV), John Lewis of Hungerford (JLH) and Avanti Communications (AVN). Tomorrow I head to Greece

Ascent Resources - doesn't give a FF about AIM Rules as it delays very bad news

Published 1110 days ago

It is hard to know where AIM listed Ascent Resources (AST) has more problems - out East in Slovenia operationally or back in London where its total disregard for the AIM Rulebook should see it firmly in the soup. Here we are with a blatant rule breach, hands up who thinks bogus AIM Sheriff Marcus Stuttard will do anything about it? Er...I make that no-one.

NEW: Bulletin Board Moron of the Week Contest (10/16) - no-one beat Carl Meiring last week

Published 1136 days ago

Last week I asked if anyone could find a bigger bulletin board moron than Ascent Resources (AST) shareholder Carl Meiring. Poor Mr Meiring seems to have had rather a bad week but at least he gets another 15 minutes of fame. With Ascent shares now at 1.75p to sell Carl's tweet of last Monday is unbeatable although as you can see HERE there were many other strong entries.

Ascent Resources – RNSs with no Nomad sign-off?

Published 1137 days ago

In the midst of the takeover approach by Cadogan (CAD) which fell by the wayside, AIM-listed Ascent Resources (AST) was changing Nomad from finnCap to Stockdale (the former Westhouse). But a couple of RNSs slipped through which did not bear the name of either as Nomad. One wonders why.

Tom Winnifrith BearCast 8 April - Waz v Metal Tiger as Oakley & I tidy up

Published 1138 days ago

If a I yawn a bit it is because the Mrs was away last night so I stayed up late watching a great Dan Snow programme about the vikings. I digress. I start with Gary Newman and Waz Shakoor vs Metal Tiger (MTR). Then it is on to Pathfinder Minerals (PFP), Greatland Gold (GGP) - it looks wrong to me - Bonmarche (BON), Edenville (EDL), Milamber Ventures (MLVP), Strat Aero (AERO) and once again Ascent (AST) where management are now reaping what they sowed. Oh, and we have some exciting news on www.UKInvestorshow - Ho, ho, ho. The Oakley headline is explained in the podcast.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 7 April - it is like passing your frigging driving test

Published 1139 days ago

I shall leave Solo Oil (SOLO) to a distinct piece on this day of vindication but suffice to say the numbers do not add up. While Lenigas groupies wait for that remember to enter the Jabba yacht caption contest where we already have some cracking entries (HERE). Then I look at corporate governance and how the City needs to be seen to be whiter than white, ref Paternoster Resources (PRS). Then it is onto: Kodal (KOD), 88 Energy (88E), Miton Group (MGR), Belgravium (BVM), Environmental Recycling (FRAUD) and Ascent Resources (AST).  And finally remember to pre-order the latest free e-book from myself especially if you are a Bulletin Board Moron and want help - you can do so HERE

Bulletin Board Moron of the Week (9/16) Contest - Ascent Resources board the place to look

Published 1143 days ago

Ascent (AST) admitted to a bid approach on Thursday and we own the shares (pro tem). I really do not wish to discourage morons from ramping this to high heaven but feel obliged to point out that those who could make us better off are, in fact, morons (HERE). Do you understand what I am saying? All I suggest is that Ascent boards will be happy hunting grounds if you wish to nominate for this Bulletin Board Moron contest. For instance, with the shares at 1.05p having doubled on Thursday, can you beat this tweet?

Tom Winnifrith April Fool Bearcast -talking of Fools: Ascent Resources, Nighthawk and folks with MBAs

Published 1145 days ago

I name a few folks who fell for Nigel's April Fool today. How could you think so badly of me? Then it is onto: Ascent Resources (AST), Nighthawk (HAWK),  Digital Barriers (DGB), Jiasen (JSI), Stratmin Global (STGR), Gulf Keystone (GKP), AFC Energy (AFC), Vast Resources (VAST) and Nakama Group (NAK). I am rude about folks with MBA's today so if you have one brace yourself.

More insider dealing, Ascent Morons to be rogered as Cadogan walks

Published 1145 days ago

Shares in Ascent Resources (AST) plunged 15% on Thursday to 5.9p and at just after five O'Clock Cadogan Petroleum (CAD) announced that it had pulled out of takeover talks. Surely no insider dealing taking place there. The smell you can detect now is of burning fingers in the Bulletin Board Moron community.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 28 March: Paul Scott, Ascent loons, in fact everyone is in denial

Published 1149 days ago

Cripes the Mrs listened to me recording this and said that it was jolly interesting. I must have done something right today. On the agenda, I start with global denial, the fake econmic recovery since 2008 and how it will end in tears. I refer to a cracking Zero Hedge article here. Then it is Paul Scott in denial on how management change really changes so little so often. Finally it is Ascent (AST) loons in denial in equating sunk costs to fair value. Folks please if you wish to FYB tomorrow do not let me stop you as you will be able to buy shares we own and will happily let you have. But in all good conscience I must explain why you are bonkers.

Ascent Resources - what happens next?

Published 1150 days ago

Heck was that a cracking pre Easter treat! The day before the holidays shares in Ascent Resources (AST) raced ahead prompting the company to admit that it had received a bid approach from Cadogan Petroleum (CAD). Ascent shares gained 111% on the day to close at 1.95p valuing it at £3.1 million.

Ascent - great news but more to come soon - buy!

Ascent Resources (AST) has delivered an “update to the market on further progress towards its goal of producing gas from the Petišovci field in 2016”. It is really great news but only the start.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 24 Feb: Eden you are FRAUDS - please send me a lawyers letter

Published 1182 days ago

A challenge to Eden Research (EDEN) about its FRAUD - will it please send me a lawyers letter as I really want to see the bitchez in Court. Its PR man Queenie McManus smearing me is just so tedious. Man up Queenie and do the decent thing. I also suggest that Nomad Shore Cap thinks twice before assisting Eden with a bailout placing. In this podcast I also look at DDD Group (DDD), Ascent Resoures (AST), Auhua (ACE), ECR Minerals (ECR), Evocutis (EVO), Alba (ALBA) & Stellar Resources (STG)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 5 December - Six oil stocks heading to zero (and there are more) post OPEC

Published 1263 days ago

In this podcast I discuss OPEC and the oil price. I think you should have some oil exposure via BP (BP.A) and I am intyerested in a couple of gas plays, notably Ascent (AST). But I remain uber bearish on oil juniors as I have been (correctly) for four years. Among those heading for zero which I discuss are Gulf Keystone (GKP), Xcite Energy (XEL), IGAS (IGAS), Mosman Oil & Gas (MSMN), Northern Petroleum (NOP) and LGO Energy (LGO). And there are others take may not hit zero within a year but which still face share price decimation such as Solo (SOLO) and the Horse Shite/ Horse Hill Gatwick Gusher plays.

Does AIM make thieves of us all?

Published 1277 days ago

I’ve had an interesting discussion with our stalwart reader Wildrides on my recent 88 Energy piece (88E). Cut a long story short Wildrides has made a number of comments on pieces I’ve written pointing out the obvious flaws in the businesses I’ve covered. Wildrides and I swap the odd email, so I do know his real name. He is an experienced investor and someone whose opinion I respect, but our recent exchange has left me wondering; does AIM make thieves of us all?

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 12 November: Hero (Optibiotix) & a stack of zeros

Published 1286 days ago

Then onto Ascent Resources (AST) - that may surprise you - Oilex (OEX), Rolls Royce (RR), Ubisense (UBI), Communisis (CMS), Spire Health (SPI) and Atlas Developments (ADSS) where flip flop is talking more nonsense.

Yesterday morning, Provexis (PXS) announced it had raised £280,000 through Primarybid.com. I won’t pretend to know the first thing about Provexis, but this looks like a positive step forward in the evolution of AIM. Primarybid.com is a crowdfunding service, designed to end the tyranny of bucket shop placements on AIM.
