Get your free seat to meet Mark Slater, the UK’s top fund manager of the past decade and hear what he is buying in EXACTLY 8 days’ time

Published 2 hours ago

As a long time Brexiteer I am sure Mark Slater will have a few things to say about the UK leaving the EU the day before The Global Group UK Investor Show on Saturday 30th March. More importantly, in just eight days’ time, the most successful fund manager of the past decade will be using that famous “Slater nose” to give his view on the market but will also be explaining exactly which shares he is buying and selling and why.

2000 Morons who want more fraud on AIM ask parliament to ban shorting

Published 15 days ago

Over on the LSE Asylum they are getting terribly excited about a Parliamentary Petition to ban shorting AIM stocks. If they can just find another 98,000 morons to sign (I’d start with the Frontera (FRR), Quindell (QPP) and Cloudtag (CTAG) shareholder lists) then this idea will be debated. Fraudsters must be praying they do...

Ongoing investment madness - case studies at Asda/Sainsbury's, Hammerson and Superdry

Like some of the other writers on ShareProphets I sometimes turn my hand to sharing a few pearls of wisdom with the younger generation at some of our Higher Education institutions.  As i only really know about one thing - finance and investment related matters - it will not surprise any readers the subjects i talk about.  It will also not surprise anyone that I try to refocus the students away from mathematical explanations to a broader palate of qualitative and interpretative insights.

Flybe knocks talk of counter offer on head with asset disposal – shares collapse

Reviewing Tipsters’ Top Picks for 2019

Published 76 days ago

The UK economy suffered a tumultuous 2018, and it proved to be a particularly rough year for holders long in UK-listed shares: the FTSE100 suffered its worst year in a decade, while the FTSE All Share slumped 13% over the course of the year. The turbulence we’re experiencing looks set to continue into 2019 as markets struggle with mounting uncertainty. As a result “tipping shares has never felt more hazardous”, but there are potential rewards; Joanne Hart (Daily Mail) notes that “UK shares are widely acknowledged to be undervalued, presenting clear opportunities across the market”. I should point out that Tom Winnifrith and others think Ms Hart is useless and clueless.

Next and Staffline under the spotlight next week

Published 83 days ago

Ahead of a more comprehensive review of annual broker and tipster activity next week, this week’s article focuses on two expected early-January trading announcements from Next (NXT) and Staffline (STAF). Strong returns on Next shares were wiped out during a disappointing second half to the year, while shareholders of Staffline will be happy with a return of over 20% in 2018. Both updates will be seen as important early indicators for their respective sectors, but are brokers and tipsters bullish about both companies’ future prospects?

Can Interserve be Saved? Tipster and Broker Opinion

Published 98 days ago

Another dismal year for public services provider Interserve (IRV) was capped off by a further 50% slump in the firm’s share price earlier this week. The price reaction formed a direct response to the revelation that Interserve is seeking a rescue deal which – according to Christopher Williams (The Telegraph) – represents “a disaster for shareholders”. In this week’s article, we take a look at current tip sentiment; do the consensus believe the firm now can be salvaged, or is it is doomed to fail? The answer: it depends on who you ask – tipsters, or brokers?

I expliain why today's output from me is limited and then break the latest news from Julie "lingerie on expenses" Meyer MBE. Then I look at Independent Oil & Gas (IOG), Optibiotix (OPTI), Dignity (DTY) and the scam that is the funeral industry and BCA marketplace (BCA) which may have hoodwinked Andrew Monk but whose interims today are shoking. They could have been written by wretched Theresa May and are alarmingly bad. I also comment on  the Project Fear Brexit uber bollocks spouted by the not fit for purpose Bank of England Governor Mark Carney yesterday.

Trading updates spur tipster focus on the banking sector

Published 146 days ago

Despite a series of strong earnings announcements, it’s been a disappointing few months for holders of London-listed bank shares. Shenanigans at First Derivatives Don’t Look Good. Sell

Published 158 days ago

I doubt that there was the slightest sense of embarrassment at last week’s AIM awards (a ghastly sounding knees up for the world’s seediest stock market) when First Derivatives (FDP) picked up two gongs: Best Technology award for the company itself and Entrepreneur of the Year Award for its founder and CEO Brian Conlon. Presumably these awards were decided well before First’s price tanked amid some serious concerns being raised and the organisers, in true AIM style, were too gormless to think on their feet and give them out to a less dodgy enterprise.

AIM Focus: Broker and Tipster Sentiment

Published 160 days ago

It’s been an eventful week on AIM. Patisserie Holdings’ (CAKE) announcement of “significant, and potential fraudulent, accounting irregularities” on Wednesday blindsided the investment community. Urals Energy (UEN) is comparatively smaller, but the company’s discovery of an unauthorised loan made with its funds – meaning the firms “working capital position will be significantly constrained” – brought some more unwanted bad press; UEN shares slid 31.3% since the announcement. With AIM firms making the news, we take at the current state of broker and tipster sentiment towards AIM over the last 30 days.

Elon Musk's biggest fan in Greece updates his facebook page - crime does pay for Costis the Globo fraudster

Gabriel Grego PROVES that the Folli Follie Rebuttal just does not wash - it is lying about POS numbers

With a little, acknowledged, help from yours truly, Gabriel Grego of Quintessential Capital Management has reviewed the list of 587 POS ( Points of Sale) claimed by Folli Follie on Monday and demonstrates cleary that it is way overstated. Any company caught with its pants down lying about something this basic is clearly engaged in fraud. The shares have recovered to 8.4 Euro but are worth ZERO. This is still free money as a short.  Gabriel writes:

A day at UK Investor and my pick from the show

Published 333 days ago

I went with a shopping list of companies I wanted to speak to, and to find something which might prove a worthwhile investment – that, alongside chairing one session, a cameo appearance in another, a meeting with the Global Shorting Conspiracy and a bit of time on the ShareProphets stand. My marks out of ten were about 6 or 7 – I didn’t get to see all the companies I wanted to but I think I gleaned some useful information. And I have my tip – although it is not a widows and orphans pick!

The valuation is clearly bonkers and I say that as a shareholder (by accident not design). Andrew Monk of VSA floated AIQ and has penned this response which I am happy to publish in full as it all seems very comprehensive and reassuring. I really don't know what to think other than that the valuation at the suspension price is bonkers on steroids.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: 18 minutes to the fit young mums

Published 526 days ago

I am in a bit of a rush today. The Mrs has all day meetings so it is just me and Joshua. That means we get an extra 30 minutes at the fit young mums coffee morning. But what do I say to a FYM? And what might she say back. That is clearly the big issue of the day. After that I look at MySquar (MYSQ) after Darren's meeting last night, at UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) - placing at 2p? - Sound Energy (SOU) and Echo (ECHO) both slam dunk sells and similar to UKOG in many ways.I comment, en passant, on Renold (RNO) and the idea of pricing power and finally warn you that Telit (TCM) is indeed heading for 0p. And thank you for subscribing to ShareProphets. After 28 days we are within spitting distance of breakeven.

Its shares are slumping on a profits alert but the real horrors are the lies in the August 9 results statement. Still valued at £124 million this could halve again look at debt! Then it is onto MySquar (MYSQ) a good bet for a zero, and finally a trio of oilies, Range Resources (RRL) - its au revoir not goodbye - Pantheon (PANR) dreary and overvalued by a reasonable amount and Sound Energy (SOU) where the valuation is a 100% rum and coke.

Tom Winnifrith: The most important bearcast ever - news of a big change here on Thursday

Published 558 days ago

I have been thinking long and hard about this all summer but there is no alternative as the great Lady Thatcher used to say. Evil Google provides no content but sucks all of the ad revenue from online media. Our advertising revenue has collapsed so ShareProphets must either accept the custom of utter dirtbags like Darren Winters, continue to be subsidised by the UK Investor Show or fold. Or it must charge for access. I believe that asking you to pay £6 a month for 300 articles and for utterly unique content is something you will agree to and so on Thursday it is pay to play. I explain why evil Google is forcing our hand and what will happen and what the choices are in, perhaps the most important bearcast in our history..

Reader Comment of the day - Drunken Sailor unearths local issues for Bushveld

Published 581 days ago

You may remember that ShareProphets poster Drunken Sailor and I were co-defendants in a libel case a couple of years ago ( which we won). Mr sailor is not a drunk and he is a great sleuth when he wants to be. My pressing concerns about uber ramped Bushveld Minerals (BMN) are its balance sheet, but DS has unearthed another major issue which, for some reason, Bushveld has not covered in an RNS. Perhaps it might do so now? Drunken's post merits a wider audience:

African Potash - 2 days to find $1.1 million: an open letter to Lord Peter Hain

Published 934 days ago

In two days time African Potash (AFPO) must repay its finance director's wife $1.1 million as it is obliged to clear the most expensive loan in AIM history. It has no cash so prepare for mega dilution as the loan will be repaid in shares at 0.29p per share, or lower. Against that background I have, this weekend, shown that on both January 6 2016 and December 1 2015 it lied to investors ahead of its last bailout placing, it engaged in fraud. The man charged with holding CEO lyin' Chris Cleverley to account on this is perma-tango tanned Labour Lord, Peter Hain. I have written to his Lordship today.

Follow the Fellow Who Follows Tullow.

Published 1009 days ago

Hello Share Bunnies. Tullow Oil (TLW) shares I've held a long time. Too long, as it turned out. Not many years ago they doubled my outlay in a year or two. Then, like nearly all other big oilers they were hit a year ago, or so by the big black stuff crash. Actually the share had been on the back foot before that. But I reckon Tullow could be on the march again. Over the last few days, the advancing oil price has decided to take a rest. But not for long, I fancy. You can see my reasons in a few recent examples of my modest Shareprophets column.

China fraud Auhua – heading for Death Row, but what about the Broker situation?

Published 1147 days ago

Eighteen Filthy Forty members have already gone and they are still queuing up. Jiasen (JSI) took the heat earlier in the week (and there is more to come on that one) and we already have LED Holdings suspended for failing to release its accounts. Then there is Asian Citrus (ACHL) which looks set to run out of cash – or orange trees – before long. But at the back end of the week came a late surge from Auhua (ACE) to claim pole position for the next expulsion of a China fraud from the AIM Casino.

FRAUD Jiasen - cratering again. What happened to your 1500 employees?

Published 1149 days ago

Ok this is an easy question. In the RNSs released by ShareProphets AIM-China Filthy Forty member, Jiasen (JSI) the 'Notes to Editors' has helpfully told us the number of workers employed at its factory in Nan'an City, Fujian Provice (AIM-China Fraud central), China. For what it is worth I do not believe a word it says on this matter for reasons explained HERE but maybe Jiasen can guide us all?

F40 Taihua – Oh Dear: time for the Walkers?

Published 1155 days ago

Tom Winnifrith has already raised a few awkward questions about ShareProphets AIM-China Filthy Forty play Taihua (TAIH) HERE when he discussed how a profitable company (from China) with net cash of £2.5 million (as at June 2015, so we are told in the Interims) is only valued by the market at about £1 million. Yesterday saw a statement which brought to mind the now executed F40 company JQW. It all rather suggests that there is no earnings visibility and as such I would suggest that the stock could well be worthless.

F40 Northwest Investment Group parts with its Mr Wong and thanks him sincerely. What for?

Published 1157 days ago

ShareProphets AIM-China Filthy Forty member Northwest Investment Group (NWIG) announced the departure of a NED, Mr Ka Ming Wong, yesterday afternoon. The thanks were effusive, but some shareholders might take a different view, given the lamentable record of this investment company which doesn't invest. Hard to Believe – but RBS Shares Are Still Only Worth 4% of What They Once Were.

New World Oil and Gas – ShareProphets RNS Translation Service

Published 1402 days ago

Last night (after hours, of course) New World Oil and Gas (NEW) issued an RNS to report on the fiasco that was its EGM called to pass proposals which would allow the controversial Placing announced on 29 April to proceed. Every man and his dog knows that there has been a disorderly market in the company’s shares pretty much ever since, and so with speculation rife that the company would have a spot of bother working out who was entitled to vote as massive multiples of the issued share capital traded through the market and even a formal notice from the LSE that shares were not settling in a timely manner, the ShareProphets RNS Translation Service is pleased to help readers understand what is going on. Quotes are in bold with our interpretation in normal script.

Guess what's happening within days on ShareProphets?

Published 1407 days ago

There is good in everybody. As the Death Star implodes the escape capsules are being launched. Stormtrooper Stewart Dalby, the founder of oilbarrel.com is pitching up at Proactive Investors to launch oilcapital.com.  That rather suggests that the Evil Empire's oilbarrel operation is 100% toast. But there are other escape capsules being launched and one is heading the way of a secret rebel alliance base ...

Notes from underground - The Great Chris Oil

This week's No-prize for services to ShareProphets goes to the mighty Chris Oil whose efforts to become a dandy David Lenigas gave us nine of this week's top-ten most-read stories. And it was across all our mediums: web, podcast, and video. That's a triple-play that we've never seen before.

New World Oil and Gas – ShareProphets RNS translation service

Published 1417 days ago

It is hard to imagine a messier situation than the current predicament of New World Oil and Gas (NEW). Having had the opportunity to force a temporary suspension while the mess over the proposed Placing and all that it entails, New World seems to have decided not to go down that path. Instead, we have had an RNS this morning. It was a little confusing, so the ShareProphets RNS translation service is pleased to offer its interpretation.

I rate the shares as a buy and while I know that some on ShareProphets disagree I am glad that because it is a website dedicated to free speech and a two way exchange of opinion, it is running this article.

Tern plc - More on Hargreave Hale, and was Nomad WH Ireland negligent? Should it resign?

Published 1516 days ago

In my last piece on Tern plc (TERN) I looked at the stake in the company bought by Hargreave Hale (HH), on behalf of unit trusts that it manages. Having concluded that there were breaches regarding disclosure rules, it turns out that one of them may have another – innocent – explanation which is entirely within the rules. But the implications are horrendous.

EXCLUSIVE – Has ShareProphets Forced the FCA into a clarification re EFH and IGas?

Published 1526 days ago

ShareProphets broke the story of the Equities First Holdings LLC (EFH) loans scandal back in November 2014. We nailed the EFH six – IGas (IGAS), Quindell (QPP), Optimal Payments (OPAY), Cloudbuy (CBUY), IQE (IQE) and Angle (AGL) for not giving adequate disclosure of the dealings of their directors with regard to deals with EFH. All those companies were in the end (and some rather more reluctantly than others) forced into clarifications. But it turns out that the FCA has also issued a clarification too!

Why the FCA is a chocolate teapot when it comes to AIM: it is an unkown unknown

Published 1559 days ago

We have been saying for a considerable time here on Shareprophets that the authorities who are supposed to regulate and deal with bad behaviour on the AIM Casino are just a bunch of chocolate teapots. Complaint after complaint has met with absolutely no action being taken. Clearly demonstrated frauds, rule breaches, market abuses and so on have been handed to the authorities on a plate and yet the perpetrators are still out there operating on the markets.

Tom Winnifrith Red Flags – Bulletin Board Morons publish Real Man Pizza Accounts!

It will make no difference to the fate of Quindell (insolvency) whether RMPC survives or fails. But since some utter moron (Goldust88 from the LSE Asylum) has posted highlights of our August 31st 2013 accounts raising six red flags about me, which other cretins have plastered on other asylums, I might as well respond.

Editorial comment; why the overwhelming majority of our critics are wrong

Published 1688 days ago

I came face to face with a serpent yesterday; the pernicious temptation to short a stock on the basis of a piece I knew Tom was about to publish. I spoke with Tom in the morning and he told me about the £4.5million bombshell he had uncovered. This revelation was so explosive I don’t mind admitting it was the first time the thought of opening a position against Quindell (QPP) crossed my mind. I am human and just as flawed as anyone else. I also have a young family and the lure of easy money is all too enticing. I could easily have opened a spread bet or got a friend to short the stock on my behalf. But I didn’t. You see this is what most of our critics completely fail to see. We have positioned ourselves at ShareProphets to attack market abuse as vigorously as we can. Whatever else you might say about us and our editorial style we are not stupid people; far from it. How dim would we have to be to throw stones in a glass house we have chosen to build?!!!!

Globo plc – readers' questions answered my reservations not

Published 1694 days ago

My review of the trading update earlier this week from Globo plc (GBO) elicited a couple of reader comments – particularly asking “what cash situation do you want from a company in the growth stage”? and “would you please comment on globo 2013 final accounts ageing of trade receivables”. Why shorting is both vital and good for investors and for society

Published 1713 days ago

Shorters, or bear raiders, are vilified by the ignorant as destroyers of wealth and of jobs. Some folks want shorting banned. They are wrong. The only people who benefit from banning shorting are crooks, liars and frauds. Capitalism needs shorters for it to work efficiently. Here’s why.
