REVIEWED: ShareProphets writers share tips of the year for 2015

By ShareProphets | Thursday 24 December 2015

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

On the long tack, it is congratulations to Tom Winnifrith with OptiBiotix Health (OPTI) soaring by more than 300%. Kudos also to Steve Moore (K3 Business Technology, KBT, +62% and Impellam Group, IPEL, +57%), Malcolm Stacey (Zytronic, ZYT, +43%), Chris Bailey (Coca-Cola HBC, CCH, +25%) and last of the double digit gainers Nigel Somerville (Core VCT, +11%). On the other hand, it is commiserations to…

Tom Winnifrith (Stanley Gibbons, SGI, -70%), Gary Newman (Genel Energy, GENL, -70%) and Robert Tyerman (Paragon Diamonds, PRG, currently suspended pending clarification of financial position and a new nominated adviser). Market abuser (and thus sacked) Chris Oil was next (Rockhopper Exploration, RKH, -60%). A poor showing by Robert Sutherland Smith (BP & Rolls Royce) also saw him put out to pasture. Who will be next for the P45 and the black bag?

On the short tack (red in the table), it is congratulations to…

Tom Winnifrith with Globo’s administration and the share price collapse of Jiasen (JSI). Also Igas Energy (IGAS, -54%) and Volex (VLX, -22%). Kudos also to Thierry Laduguie (Glencore, GLEN, -69%), James Parter (Solo Oil, SOLO, -57%) and Lucian Miers (Avanti Communications, AVN, -32% and PureCircle, PURE, -28%). On the other hand, it is commiserations to…

Tom Winnifrith (and Evil Knievil) as the poltroons at Slater&Gordon inexplicably bailed out Quindell (now Watchstone Group, WTG). Ben Turney’s bet against Just Eat (JE. +51%) caused indigestion and Evil again suffered somewhat (Foxtons Group, FOXT, +15%). The full table follows…

For 2016,why not do readers’ tips too [say,up to 1 tip long and 1 short] ?

  2. Quick paste from chat currently having with Chris Bailey…

“thing is that percentage figure doesn’t take into account dividends
in terms of those too shares i think i have done ok this year

bought glaxo at right time last time
bought more hsbc this year at 550 Mark Howitt so when u take divis into account it’s ok- i believe they’ll go up in future”

On a more official note I would like to say A BIG THANK YOU to around 100,000 people who’ve read my writing on this site. I will write a bit more about this on my blog. Quite a few people have been asking me if I’ll write for ShareProphets again… well that’s up to Tom really. I would like to in future but know that I have a lot to learn- including ‘listening to my elders and betters’. I remain a long term buy and hold share investor with a six figure share portfolio and every day is a learning and goal day.

100,000? er…not quite. Never say never but as I have made clear this site will be moving in a different direction in 2016 as folks will see. Merry Christmas to you anyway, I hope you have fun up in the Grim North

  4. Lol I guess it might not quite be 100,000 but wouldn’t be too far off!

I’ll probably be playing poker on goal day- every day is goal day.

Just finished reading Chris Oil part 2 which was quite fun… I’m sure whatever happens I’ll read some more of ShareProphets in 2016 :)

  5. this country needs less millenial child tipsters like Howitt talking out their behinds. great news that the sites moving away from the twitterpumpers and going more upmarket. dropping turney was a masterstroke
