Tom Winnifrith: Will you Support my daughter Olaf as she swims 5 kilometres up the river Dart

Those of you in the Woodford session at UK Investor Show may have noticed that when coming off stage I was greeted not only by the Mrs and Joshua but by a very pretty teenage girl who was chatting to Mark Slater and Nigel Wray. That is my Welsh Nationalist daughter Olaf who is the reason Nigel and I have been involved with Woodlarks for so long.

For Olaf was born very prematurely at 1lb 4oz so we were warned that there was a 30-40% chance she might have Cerebral Palsy. Hence the link. It's a long story for another time. Anyhow, Olaf turns 17 this year and has just got straight top grades in her AS levels. Whatever I say about her mother - Big Nose - Olaf is genetically blessed in the brains department on both sides. She is also a talented actor - last seen in Made in Dagenham as Harold Wilson and is polite enough to say that my Woodford talk was both good and interesting and how odd she found it wandering around the show that so many folks wanted to say hello to me.

Olaf is also a keen swimmer and this summer will be swimming five kilometres along the river Dart in Kent. Yuk. She swims for a good Catholic charity helping ex cons to rehabilitate. I hope one day that PACT will be helping many of the folks I write about here.
