Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. Hello, Share Twiddlers. When this stunning website was free to view, funded by adverts, we had zillions of readers. But due to what we regard as shortsightedness, the number of punters plummeted and now stands at a faithful few. Well, quite a lot of savvy investors really, but not the huge army we used to have.
This drop in daily hits had three benefits, as far as this old punter is concerned. One: there’s no pressure to write differently about advertisers on this site. Because there aren’t any. We never yielded to such pressure anyway. But it’s still nice not to have it. Secondly, if I, or any of my more astute colleagues, recommended a share it would often shoot up on publication. This could mean readers might pay over the odds.
But now that subscribers have to pay a small fee, there’s no longer any rush to buy what I suggest. It gives time for punters to do a bit of their own confirmatory research. It helps subscribers to leisurely bag a bargain. And if my contribution is worth ow’t at all, then it will only be a matter of time before the penny drops and the share eventually rises on its own merits. Buying subscription to Shareprophets give you a march on the competition. You can get in earlier and cheaper.
Benefit number three is that this website delves deeply and uses exclusive contacts to identify companies which may let you down. You know that any critical opinions are unbiased because we don’t own any of those outfits a thing.
Now you can save a few quid by not buying into Shareprophets. But if you invest even modestly in a company which turns out to be clueless, or worse, you will lose hundreds at the least and more likely thousands. This might happen to you several times a year. It’s the mazuma lost that attacks your profits, more than shares which soar in value. Can you afford to take the risk?
And worth the price of admission alone is that we think your website is very entertaining. Even if you never trade a share all year.
And now it’s Punter’s Return time. God bless.
