Paul Jourdan, Evil Banksta and Cathal Friel join the ShareStock line-up

By Tom Winnifrith | Monday 6 February 2023

Disclosure: I own shares in one or more of the stocks mentioned. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

It is still 230 days to ShareStock, the shares festival held in a tent on an elevated lawn here at my family’s farmhouse here in Wales on the banks of the River Dee, just a few miles from Chester. Yet we can now announce (almost)  the complete speaker line-up.

Just this week we have secured three new speakers: First up is Evil Banksta/JaKnife/Kevin Taylor the columnist you know well from this website and an incredibly successful investor long, but more especially, short. Then there is top small cap fund manager Paul Jourdan of Amati and finally signing up for a grilling from me is Cathal Friel of Open Orphan.

And so the stage is almost set. A big tent holding 100 has been ordered but I should warn you that already 50 seats have been reserved so if you want to hear our top speakers book early HERE.

Sharestock is relaxed. You get home or village cooked food at breakfast, lunch, tea and, if you want, supper. There is musical comedy with Dominic Frisby and a Gilet Jaune after the talks and ALL the speakers will be around for most or all of the day happy to chat over some Wrexham Lager, Cheshire Cat or Nettle beer, coffee or a glass of wine. There is salmon or pike fishing in the river and Joshua’s prize croquet contest. There are a few more surprises to come but it is not all about making money from shares with the experts.

The star speakers, in no particular order, are:

1. Jim Mellon is a Sunday Times Rich List star sometimes described as Britain’s Buffett (along with a few other folk!). We have had our well-publicised differences in the past but nobody cannot say that Jim is a thoughtful and entertaining speaker. He will be flying in to headline the show.

2. Matt Earl, aka the Dark Destroyer, is probably now the UK’s highest profile short seller. His reports on the Shadowfall website move markets and Matt never holds back.

3. Lucian Miers, another bear who you know well from ShareProphets

4. Dominic Frisby is a libertarian singer/comedian but also a well know writer and author on gold and bitcoin. He is a bit of a bull. I am not. Dominic will not only be taking part in the store of value panel session but after the main event, as you enjoy a home cooked supper, he will be joined on stage by a Gilet Jaune for a musical performance.

5. Peter Brailey, who you also know well from ShareProphets, on oil prices, oil stocks to short – like Pantheon his big call from 2022 – and energy prices.

6. Veteran gold guru Malcolm Burne is also up to speed on crypto and will join Dominic and returning speaker Peter Hambro in the store of value session.

7. CEOs Steve O’Hara of Optibiotix and the star of 2022, Brian Kinane of Riverfort Global Opportunities, Cathal Friel of Open Orphan and 1 more tba

8. Paul Jourdan the very clever boss of fund manager Amati. Not only clever but principled.

9. Evil Banksta, a razor sharp mind whose track record is second to none

10. Not a star but I will also be on stage!

Surely that is enough to merit pre-booking a ticket now as we are now already 40% sold out. You can book HERE

And we will also have the River Dee fishing, pizzas, home grown food, Joshua’s croquet contest – with the lawn a bit flatter and more forgiving – as much Cheshire Cat, Wrexham lager, wine, lavender cordial and nettle beer as you can drink. I might have even built a jetty to allow more easy access to the river for your salmon or pike fishing.

The last talk ends at 5.30 PM but then there is a supper (cold salmon, stuffed home grown marrows, etc) if you want it, Dominic Frisby with his jokes and songs and the free bar stays open until 9 PM or when we have run out of booze.

The date is now fixed for September 23 2023 and you can find out more details on the speakers and other attractions and also purchase both single and double tickets HERE.
