Another socialist going on about “the poor”. Being poor, is what that family in Africa was, in that programme I saw a couple of years ago. They spent half the day fishing in a lake and catching a handful of small fish, which the mother of the family then took to market – first having to walk four miles to the bus stop – where she sold the fish, if she were lucky, for the equivalent of £1.50.
The only people who are poor in this country, are people who have made themselves poor, because they know socialist politicians will give them a free living in return for their vote. They fall into three main categories in the South Wales town I live not far from. You see them everyday. There are the Zeppelins of lard – the clinically obese, who stroll around with their I-pads and cans of lager; there are the serial breeders, who go around in family groups, the fathers invariably being shaven-headed and tattooed, and obviously not having done a day’s work in their lives; and there are the dog men, with their Pit Bulls, which they used to frighten benefits staff. These people do in fact have an occupation,. It is making fools of socialists.
And as for money for “women’s” services, why should women have services in a day of supposed sex equality? Men don’t have services, yet they create the major part of this country’s wealth, and pay most of this country’s taxes.
I’m sorry, but I do not want any of my taxes to go to any of the above.

Every Labour government in my lifetime ( I’m 70 ) has ended in financial disaster and I’m not sure I can bear to face another one . They are financially illiterate and incompetent and should not be trusted , Gordon Brown created a dependent population and we need to reverse that trend . People need to be responsible for their own welfare and not expect someone else to do it for them, it will stand them in good stead when the financial meltdown finally arrives.

Valid points aplenty but “under investment in education” needs some serious qualification in the context of just about everyone finishing secondary school these days feeling compelled to go on to prop up the tertiary education ‘industry’ (poor buggers – £9k a year for the ‘privilege’ before living expenses too, not like in our day when it wasn’t uncommon to read “degree holders need not apply” in situations vacant adds and admission to somewhere wasn’t automatic)!
Just where DOES all the cash set aside for this go, and how can paying chancellors of vice at certain outfits twice as much as the US president be justified when so much funding for home grown technological marvels with the potential to deliver so much has been pulled? Time to de-rail the gravy train, perhaps, if it really is a case of USS and them, as the gap between the real opportunities society affords middle and working class sprogs has surely been steadily widening (after it seemed to be narrowing a couple of decades or so ago). I’m not sure more money is the answer, though, without a SERIOUS rethink about the justification for all this extended education malarkey and continued professional development, etc.

I get the feeling that you’ve done a copy and paste job with some of those comments as they’re typical Labour rhetoric but factually incorrect.
Take your comment “tax cuts for the rich”, for example, one of the fantastic things that this Government has done is to slash taxes for absolutely everyone at the bottom end of society. When the government came into power the personal allowances was £6,475, as they leave it is £10,600 and they propose to make it much higher. That enormously sensible change (which was actually originally a LibDem policy and even they stole it from UKIP) means that work actually begins to pay and so those people, who Labour were happy to spend their life wasting away on benefits, can now go out and work and find that a wage is higher than benefits. “Do you care about the dignity of all of your fellow citizens?” you ask, yet where is the “dignity” in Labour keeping people enslaved to the state via benefits!
Presumably you would argue that the coalition cut the top rate of tax from 50% to 45%. They also explained very clearly why they did that after HMRC researched and determined that the government would collect MORE tax if the rate was 45% rather than 50%. It’s not a difficult concept, if tax is 100% then people don’t bother working and the government collects nothing. If tax is 0% the government collects nothing. And so there is a bell-shaped curve between 0% and 100% (called the “Laffer Curve”) at which the maximum amount of tax collected is when the rate is 45%. It would be economically illiterate to make a tax change that results in the government collecting less tax but that is what Labour propose with their 50% top tax rate!
“There will be a few mean-spirited plutocrats who will head off to Monaco” you write as if it will only be a small number. There are in excess of 500,000 French that live here in London now, they came here specifically to flee the repressive socialist regime of Hollande, in particular high taxes. Those people are mobile and will move because of high taxes. (Just like HSBC are intending to move because of high taxes). It is better to get 45% of a big number than to get 0% of nothing! Nom-doms I hear you argue, and yet it was this government that revised the non-dom rules to collect more taxes from them (Also let us not forget that embarrassing video where Ed Balls admitted that getting rid of the non-dom rules would reduce the amount of tax collected). 115,000 non-doms now pay as much tax as 10-million average UK tax payers. There are people on the left who genuinely say “so what let them go” because they want everyone in the UK to be poor, it’s as if they want to ban people being rich!
And finally, the NHS. You reference “suffer the effects of NHS underfunding” but ignore the cold hard facts that the Labour and the Conservatives have identical funding plans. But how can Labour meet that funding plan when they do economically illiterate things that result in the government collecting LESS tax? We need a strong economy to fund the NHS. We need a strong economy to pay the benefits for those in society who truly need benefits. We need a strong economy to pay for the roads, schools, infrastructure, for all those things that government should provide. And that’s why it’s the economy that counts and that’s why Labour would be a disaster.
Every Labour government in all of history has left office with unemployment higher than when it entered office. Labour are the party of the unemployed, they need people to be poor because those are the people who vote for them. The Conservatives want everybody to be rich, everybody to be out there working together to pull the country in the Right direction. The Conservative party are the party of aspiration, aspire to be something greater, vote Conservative.

I think Emily Thornberry sneering at white van man and Brown’s labelling Gillian Duffy as a bigot is the true face of Labour today… they’ve forgotten, apart from at elections, who they once represented. Add to that their legacy of benefits Britain, an illegal war, mass immigration and financial mismanagement and it really leaves little to shout / be proud about. I hope they get slaughtered in Scotland by the SNP, in the north & Wales by UKIP and the Conservatives down south. Perhaps they’ll then reflect on who / what they now represent.

If all of these bulletin board morons would just man up to their losses life would be much easier for us folk on the Yachts. Perhaps you might wish to invest in my new iPhone APP called ‘Yonga’. I was just having a chat with Dave on my other other Yacht this weekend. We get to offer the underprivileged an opportunity to play with their tax credits on their iPhones and buy me another Yacht. Then the company goes tits up and they get nothing and I get to keep the Yacht. I was thinking of listing on AIM. What say you? Obviously I need some Wonga up front but once we are set up and trading on the market you get to ‘trade’ against the ‘other monkeys’ and take all of their money off of them as well. Consider it an opportunity. Do get in touch. As a ‘first time mover’ we can bang heads together over the RNS flow.
Don’t mention the idea to that Pizza Oik Tom on ShareProphets. He will only blog disparagingly about it and apparently he has a lefty wife so we know whose pocket he is in. Last I heard he is lower down on the ‘access to bed’ chain than a couple of moggies.

I think you’ve made two mistakes :-
- concluding that today’s problems are due chiefly to concentration of wealth and can be solved by redistributing more .
- believing that the parliamentary Labour party care one iota about the disadvantaged . They don’t .
The single most damaging policy since the end of the second world war for Britain’s working class was LibLabCon’s mass immigration which Mandelson and Blair introduced .
This extra pressure on land is what has put people in hock to mortgage lenders for 7X salary before tax , denied them any possibility of making provision for their old age , moved families into poverty and blown out the welfare benefit .
Allowing over qualified people from abroad to take jobs which are far beneath them which Briton’s of limited ability relied on is what has driven them to food banks .
I think you are very brave to post your reasons on this website but that a Labour win would be a pyrrhic victory for exactly the type of people you want to help .

I read your article with great interest. Your observations, sentiments and conclusions are irrefutable. A sad indictment indeed to five years of Mr Cameron.
But, the trouble with today’s Labour Party is that they aren’t socialists, only watered down Tories, since being infected with that most loathsome of creatures the ‘career politician’. They march under the banner of New Labour and hold not a conviction between the whole damned lot of them, let alone a socialist one!! The likes of Blair and Mendelson, let alone the charmless Millipede being socialists? Don’t make me laugh!!
And ten years of New Labour slavishly following so-called free market principles and the massive mistake of bank de-regulation that led the way to financial collapse and resulting disastrous deficit as a Labour government handed out billions of pounds of our money, to save the privately owned banks….. oh! What irony! Worse still the resulting election of Cameron and his crony capitalist chums!
I think most of the British people recognise that Cameron and his government are unfair and bias towards the rich and powerful at the expense of the weakest. Tories are the ones that have re-newed class warfare!
Hence, in my humble, that’s why the Tories aren’t running away with this election – you see, Mr Cameron – most of us aren’t millionaires but most of us are smart enough to know where the blame lies for our woes – and its not with the poorest folk within our nation!

As for deficits, anybody who thinks they can be run ad-infinitum without leading to either national bankruptcy or currency destruction when it becomes apparent the ensuing debt can never be repaid is living in a fantasy world.
