As I head off to Greece later this week it will be to start training at altitude in the Taygetos Mountains. Only kidding. But i have been taking to the gym and starting some modest walks. I really do not want to be shown up too badly on 28 July when Brokerman Dan Levi and I walk from Horse Hill to Woodlarks.

It is about 30 miles. Dan is planning the exact route - getaways being a forte of his. Brokerman is far fitter than I am so I know I need to do some hard training. But however much of a "southern softy" I end up being, he will also walk alongside me every step of the way and perhaps alongside others too. This is not a race it is about raising as much money as possible in one day for the fabulous Woodlarks charity.

The walk will start in the early morning at the Horse Hill oil drilling site, the laughably nicknamed Gatwick Gusher, a stockmarket promote we have both done a good bit to expose as such. The walk ends at Woodlarks in the late afternoon/early evening.

Dan and I hope that you dig deep and donate something to Woodlarks. It is not a fashionable charity so every penny helps it provide amazing holidays for folks who are so handicapped that this really is a once in a year treat for them

I do not know how much we will raise. I shall be touching up everyone I know as will Dan. So far this year Nigel Wray and I have donated £9400 to Woodlarks and we raised another £1800 at UK Investor Show. So our initial target to make a real massive difference to a great cause is to almost treble that by raising another £20,000 but we want to do far more.

So far we have raised c25% of our goal. Surely you can all afford a tenner?
