If anyone from Jim Mellon's organisation wishes to visit UK Investor Show we give them admittance. But Jim's minions are desperate to stop us from seeing what a shambles and disaster his event yesterday has become. While Mellon's henchmen stopped Darren Atwater from attending we got another photographer in and what she produced shows why Mellon is so desperate to hide the ghastly truth about his heavily loss making event.
Mellon's hench-gophers claimed that there would be 100 stands at the event and 5,000 people. Hmmm well if you allocated 4 stands to the er...Master Investor Stand you can bump up the headline number. And you can also pad up numbers by having stacks of empty stands. The number of companies or organisations with stands was well under 50. And given that most of them were so irrelevant to the needfs of UK investors (The Hungarian Stock Exchange, KPMG, the Isle of Man Development Agency, etc etc) the crowds were just not there. Our person on the door counted well under 1,000 attendees.
Jim Mellon himself spoke to a packed room. That is becuase he spoke in a 150 person breakout room thus avoiding the humiliation and indignity of speaking to rows of empty seats from the main stage. Perhaps the best known main stage speaker was ex journalist Tom Stevenson of Fidelity. As you can see below, Master Investor may have slashed the number of main stage chairs from 1,000 in the days when Nigel Wray and I ran this show, before Mellon asset stripped it, to c600 but most of them were empty. And Tom S pulled in far more punters than most on the main stage.
The folks who made Master Investor the massive success it once was before Mellon asset stripped it, who headlined year in and year out (Wray, Slater, Johnson, Murria, me) will be at UK Investor Show on April 21. We really do have 100 PLCs attending. In fact it is almost 130!. We have the big name speakers.
