Hello Share Turners. There are even fewer companies I would recommend in these dark days for shares. But one which should weather the storm and even grow faster is widely favourite baker Greggs (GRG).
Back in early August I observed that a dump below a twenty quid share price would be quite interesting for anyone interested in buying shares in Greggs plc (GRG). And, with the fall in the company’s share price over the last two or three weeks, we now might be at an interesting moment.
Back in May I observed that I would much rather eat a “hotly-debated Vegan Sausage Roll” than buy shares in Greggs (GRG). I also said back then that the combination of a sub 20 quid share price AND the company’s first-half numbers on 2nd August would also be an interesting combination. We had the former occur over much of July, but the shares have pushed back to over a 2100p share price with the numbers published today.
Hello Share Tweakers. We’ve all noticed shops closing in our town centres. The new businesses springing up seem mostly to be in the catering trade. Some good news and some less good news for easyJet (EZJ) today. Call me radical but I have booked an easyJet flight for later this year, which is a tiny bit of positive news for its finance team. The less good financial news is that the company is going to have to “offer new and existing cabin crew a £1,000 bonus at the end of the summer holiday season, as airlines battle to retain and recruit staff”. Frankly though, a bit like any company, if it doesn’t have happy and motivated staff it will ultimately struggle. I remain a fan despite a lower share price this morning. And what about Greggs (GRG), which published a trading update this morning? After all a couple of months ago I asked the question “At what share price will I want more than just a vegan sausage roll from Greggs?”...
I am sure many people have almost given up on picking stocks and related investment efforts but - as I noted here on Sunday - if you are not being greedy about looking for investment opportunities when the global markets are fearful, then let an investment company mention your pension and go to bed. As for individual stocks though, there are plenty of interesting things happening today...
