Hurricane Energy – surely the case against the whore blogger Malcolm Graham Wood is now beyond doubt?

By Tom Winnifrith, The Sheriff of AIM | Friday 11 September 2020

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.

Today’s latest disastrous news from Hurricane Energy (HUR) is covered by Gary Newman HERE. Gary and Peter Brailey, having been bulls in the distant past, have both been warning you for ages that this was a disaster waiting to happen. But as the shares have collapsed from 60p to just 3p over the past 15 months, one man has been steadfast in his support. Just as he was until the bitter end with the fraud Frontera (FRR), churning out comment after comment after comment suggesting quite explicitly that the shares were cheap. I refer, of course, to Fat Bastard, the whore blogger Malcolm Graham Wood.

As every day goes on, the Whore Blogger roll call of shame gets longer: Fronterra, all those James Parsons promotes, now Hurricane. How can one man get it so wrong so often? There are three possible explanations:

1.The whore blogger is a piss poor analyst. I doubt this. After all, like all top notch analysts of oil, and I try to be modest here, he spent time at Wood Mac.

2. He has just had a few bad calls – it happens to everyone. I do not buy this either. The WB has ignored blatant fraud and still been supportive too many times.

3. His desire to either satisfy PLCs who pay him an undeclared retainer or to win new corporate clients means he knowingly writes tosh which causes naïve private investors to lose money as he counts his brown envelopes.

I know what I think. I see no harm in folks writing PR for companies as long as it is declared. But the whore blogger publishes what is PR piffle but dresses it up as journalism and that is wrong.

This has gone on too long and the City should be cold shouldering this odious spiv. Amazingly it does not. Iindeed it embraces him as one of the club. I found myself having a twitter spat this morning with Andrew Monk of VSA who again defends Graham Wood and indeed does business with him, co-hosting receptions, etc.

What Graham Wood engages in as pure sleaze; it is an activity that belongs in the sewer.  Yet folks in the City slate operations such as ShareProphets which expose corporate malfeasance and suck up to Graham Wood. That is, I suggest, a PR own goal and if the City wants to enhance its piss poor reputation it knows what to do.

Monk’s steadfast defence of the whore blogger shows that it will not.
