Uk Investor Show 2018 Videos; Dave Richards of WANdisco
Is it Dave or David? I get confused by so much these days. Whatever he presented a compelling case. And after the Dragon's Den he did I became a shareholder as you can see HERE. Wandisco (WAND) is proof of how vital management is. It was heading for disaster then management changed and now its zooming ahead as Dave/David explains below.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: No 1 Catching up on the Telit and Andalas lies and scandals
After getting back home from Sweden in the late afternoon I jotted down my thoughts on Andalas (ADL) a company still insolvent after a placing on Monday and where the stench of the greed of its ex CEO Dave Whitby is omnipresent. Then it was onto results from Telit (TCM), the insider dealing of its CEO, possible disposals, 88 definitions of profit and the ongoing mega cashburn which is the grim reality.

UK Investor Show 2018 Video: Simon Lidington of Big Sofa
Simon also gave a massively impressive Dragon's Den pitch which you can watch later. I own shares in Big Sofa (BST) and came away enthused as a result of the show. What do you think?

Hummingbird Resources commences commercial gold production - buy
There is fairly limited choice when it comes to UK listed gold producers, so it is good to see another option in the form of Hummingbird Resources (HUM), which has just declared that commercial production has commenced at its Yanfolila mine.

Explosive Purplebricks Video from UK Investor Show - Estate Agent Chris Wood blows the lid
This may say Minoan on the video but it is not. Yet another P45 for Darren Atwater. Instead it is Cornish Estate Agent Chris Wood who has disregarded two bully boy lawyers letters and blows the lid on Purplebricks (PURP).

Ten Lifestyle Group – from IPO emphasising support for its “traction” to profit warning in 5 months!
In November Ten Lifestyle Group (TENG) announced a 134p per share IPO, emphasising “traction our business model and technology platform has generated in our target expansion markets will now be supported by significant investment”. There’s followed in recent months “Ten Wins Contract With Visa”, “Ten Wins Contract With American Bank”, “Ten Wins First Contract with HSBC” and “Ten Wins Contract With OCBC Bank” announcements. Now a “Trading Update”. Must be good news then…

Thoughts on Making Our Other Assets More Secure During the Harrowing Beaufort Affair
Hello, Share Holders. I’m still reeling from the outrageous intentions of administrators of Beaufort to take some of the ring-fenced assets of innocent clients towards their fees and other costs. The main advice of folks commenting on this distressing situation is that we should spread our shares around different brokers. The trouble is that it’s such an ordeal switching around. It’s a sea full of legalities, clunky websites and intrusive methods of combatting money laundering. Let me tell you how far I’ve got, in the hopes you might pick up a few tips.

Telit – dire 2017 results, it argues now “well positioned”, but there red flags aplenty
Telit Communications (TCM) has announced results for the 2017 calendar year, emphasising “trading in the first quarter of the current financial year was strong and well ahead of last year… we are confident that our performance in 2018 will significantly improve and see double-digit growth, stabilised gross margins and the implementation of cost optimisation”. Hmmm, “significantly improve” from where? And how’s that balance sheet?..

EXCLUSIVE: Julie Meyer - infamy, infamy, they've all got in in for me - Praise the Lord fires off paranoid letter to ex employees
The Police in two countries are now seeking a word with Julie Meyer MBE and it is not for advice on how to hold a prayer meeting. It seems for a while that Julie has been a bit paranoid about all the leaks of damaging information about her. So in December she instructed her lawyer Peter Bradley to send the letter below to her countless ex employees. It threatened dire consequences if it was passed on. Natch someone has and I publish it in full. What is it that Julie Meyer is so keen to hide? How long have you got?

UK Investor Show Main Stage Star Video: Nigel Wray, Paul Jourdan and Tom Winnifrith not Paul Scott
Paul Scott had too much to drink the night before and thus failed to appear for this mid morning session on value investing at UK Investor Show. At one minute's notice I stepped into his shoes with Paul promising the organisers that he would arrive within ten minutes. He did not turn up at all. Though I over-ran by about five minutes as I adjusted & winged it using as a basis a pretty piss poor agenda Paul had set the session still worked very well I thought, a testimony to the expertise of Nigel Wray and Paul Jourdan of Amati.

Sainsbury and Asda - a match made in necessity
It is undoubtedly too early to congratulate the newly married couple as you don't put two of the big four food retail names together and get it through the competition authorities without some strife, but Sainsbury (SBRY) and the Walmart-owned Asda are doing the right deal for themselves and the other big food retailers. Of course for employees some will unfortunately lose their jobs.

The world economy is upside down and the centre cannot hold
The theory of the happy union of capitalism and democracy rests on capitalism creating secure middle-class employment for millions of citizens. Once capitalism only creates a permanent-debt-serf class and a technocrat / financier / entrepreneur / speculator class that harvests over 70% of the wealth and income, then democracy dies by the slow poison of rising inequality and the ever greater collusion of wealth and political power.

UK Investor Show Dragon's Den 4 Video: Tom, Darren & Steve invest another £3,000
At UK Investor Show there were six Dragon's Den sessions. As a result of each £3,000 of my real money was invested after each dragon picked one of the 5 companies doing an elevator pitch. In session four the Dragons were me (Tom Winnifrith), a very smug Darren Atwater and Steve Moore. The companies pitching were: Plutus PowerGen, Big Dish, Optibiotix, Connemara and Anglo African Agriculture.

Advanced Oncotherapy – now we know why the shares are up: prostitution pays!
So after my piece HERE wondering why AIM-listed Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO) was up 20-odd per cent it turns out that a research note was put out on the RNS system. The research note was from an outfit called Goetzpartners Securities Limited, which claims to be a leading pan-European investment bank and research firm. Right…. So who paid for this research, and is it worth the paper it is written on?

Why I might be prepared to give Powerhouse Energy another chance
Powerhouse Energy (PHE) is a company which I have previously been very negative on, and rightly so given its performance over the past few years. The company specialises in waste-to-energy production, either in the form of generating electricity or producing hydrogen for fuel cells, but in the past its gasification technology has failed to really take off in the way that investors had hoped.
